Found a nice schoo lwednesday morning,I knew they were young as they were metal as anything. Spoons, slow blats and a few other metal lures done the job. When they got sick of one color I just changed and they were back into it. My last count was 76 but I got a few more than that, they just wouldnt go away, argh the misery of it all.

We launched at 6am and checked shrimp traps and commenced searching for some bass. Pretty barren first off with the odd bass and forky as we headed downstream. We found fad number 2 up on the bank and recovered it so it could be repaired and relocated. The ring on the bottom had completed rusted away so it may be a good idea to check the other fads. I noted  that the fad was missing a couple of weeks ago and am surprised that it was not found previously. Around 9 oclock we found a school that was quite productive and we finished up with a tally of 108 bass and 8 forkys and back at the ramp by midday where we left the fad and a bunch of emptys that would not fit in the recycle bin. Not many photos as we were too busy catching fish. Tally would have been a lot higher but we were tagging which takes up a fair bit of time. There was quite a few fish undersize and looking at my tag records aprox 70% of the bass were over 30cm with the largest 46cm.

Pretty good day today on live shrimp apart from the barred grunter. Good company, great feed thanks to Tai and Mark who gave up fishing time to knock up a feed , plenty of laughs and bonus of 49 bass and one tandanus. It was amusing watching Tai catching 40cm bass on his little 2 ft $7 Ali express rod. Very disappointing to hear that a fellow fisher had his car vandalised in the trailer parking area today.

Started off looking a bit grim with wind and rain when I left home at 4.15 but I had faith in BOM and it turned out to be a cracker of a day after 9 am when the sun came out and it started to warm up a bit. Bass were elusive at first with us only boating 10 bass and 18 forkies by 10am. I started to slowly move around the main basin and pulling up on any shows on the sounder only to discover more forkies until we struck gold over towards the original far marker. Between 10 am and midday when we knocked off we boated 73 bass from the one school. See fad 5 has re emerged but the one opposite the fig tree seems to be gone. If you study the photos a couple of clues to location but who knows how long the school will hold there. Hai was timing how long it took to catch a fish. 26 seconds on the video between the bait hitting the water and boating the bass.

Arrived to a very gloomy NPD this morning, missed out on a wet ass thank goodness. Started trolling and never stopped till I got back to the ramp.Bass were hungry and willing to take lures. I even gave some old favs a run, managing 36 bass, one whopper forkie(on spinnerbait) and one large turtle, all on lures.

Had a good day at the western arm despite some rain. I can report that my rain jacket did a fantastic job of absorbing every drop that fell on it. Will have to proof it when it dries out. Had a few heavy showers and a nice rainbow but no pot of gold. There were plenty of small bass at first until we found some better quality bass between 38 and 45 cm. Watched a toga trying to catch what looked like a small barred grunter with both fish leaping out of the water about 6 times before the toga finally caught the fish mid leap. Finished up with over 50 bass and donated a good feed of barred grunter to the eagle

After 5 weeks we finally got back to the Hinze western arm for a rather breezy day. We spent a lot of time recovering shrimp pots with a lot of them high and dry on the bank with the ropes tied off 12 feet in the air. Took us nearly 3 hours to do 12 pots. It was impossible to fish quite a few of our normal spots due to the wind and waves making it very uncomfortable. The eagles enjoyed our trip feasting on numerous barred grunter. Bass were a bit scarce . Final tally was 42 bass and we did not count the barred grunter. As normal Joy and Mark who were in the bow outfished Rick and Myself.

Finally got back on the water after a bit of a layoff. Had Rick and Joy to help me wind in the biguns. Shrimp were a bit scarce with small redclaw outnumbering the shrimp. We found a few fish on the point opposite the old fridge but we left looking for larger ones. There were plenty of schools on the sounder but they all turned out to be hungry forkies. Not a thing on the floats but we found a school of small bass on the tip of the island. We tried a few spots between the islands that were productive 3 weeks ago but not even a forky there. We ended up with 35 bass between 18 and 37cm and 15 forkies. Seq water were doing a burn off behind the sailing club.

At long last the bass at NPD are starting to get a bit bigger heading into winter. Managed 44 bass this morning with 30 on lures and the rest on shrimp. Also had a funny thing happen to me, sort of reminded me of another bloke,a shower of rain was heading for me, so I quickly put on my raincoat. What happened next I have never seen before, the rain split before it reached the boat and passed 10ft out on either side of me and I never got one drop on me. I might have to buy a casket ticket.

With winter on the way the bass are getting hungry. Managed 38 bass, 3 forkies and 3 spanglies, all on lures. Cant believe the mongrel forkies are still lingering on.Some of the bass were not much bigger than the lures and some were decent size. Lures used in the pics, most from trolling.

Those cheeky bass up at Baroon where I have been getting them were hiding. I had to troll around until I found a good school, lucky the bass were hungry for lures of all kinds, so I rewarded them with a heap of shrimp I didnt use. Baroon was fogged out until 7am, lucky I knew my way around.Good part was I didnt have to worry about anyone seeing me have a pidal. 88 Bass so pic heavy, managed 4  50s.

Bit wet this morning but we persevered under our umbrellas and did our shrimp traps and headed off down towards the floats. It stopped raining half way just as Hais umbrella collapsed. It took about 10 minutes for the bilge pump to clear all the rain water from the hull. When we arrived at the floats all we could catch was 20cm bass which was good for our tagging numbers but we were after something more substantial so off to where the fish have been holding between the islands. No big schools and we moved about 5 times just locating the fish on the sounder. Final tally was one forky, one yella,6 tandanus and 44 bass for a midday knock off. Hai was not too happy about the forky which gave him a bit of curry and when he went to rebait his reel fell into pieces.

Back up to Baroon again this morning. Gate was open at 5.15am so I went right in and on the water by 5.30am. By 10am I was off the water as it was getting lumpy, having caught 78 bass with the majority on purple lures. There was a comp a few weeks back and biggest bass was 35cm, well i had 4 over that by 7am.

I had originally planned on going to the Boaties Market and then have a fish at NPD but on reflection I thought if I was late at the dam I would miss out on one of the good parking spots and would have a long walk up the hill so I rocked up at the gate at 5.20 to meet Craig and it turned out I made the correct decision and possibly saved money by not buying gear that I do not need.
After doing our shrimp pots ( Couple of them had dead shrimp and redclaw in them and they were in 10ft of water) we headed down to the floats where we did not stay long as only 20cm bass and smaller forkies stealing our precious shrimp. Next stop was between the islands in roughly the same spot as last time. ( Between the 2 stumps) We moved a couple of times when the fish went off the chew but only around 40 or so feet. Ended up with 70 bass ,2 tandans and around 14 forkies with a few rod busters in amongst them. Can someone please explain why people in the bow always outfish the stern fishos. Last trip Joy outfished everyone else and today Craig was in the gun spot.

Found some better fish today. Plenty of fish showing on the sounder as soon as we left the ramp bay but they were all forkies between 10 and 50cm. Couple of spangled perch and more forkies at the floats so we went between the islands for around 30 bass with about 10 of them under. They went off the chew around 10 am and we stopped at the floats on the way back for a good sized yella. Few signs of pigs down Koala straight. The eagle had a bit of a problem with one of the forkies as it was too big for it to lift so it waited till the wind blew it to the bank and dragged it up the bank before it spent over an hour demolishing it.

Hardly anyone fishing today must have been something else on. I went straight to the floats for 2 forkies and 2 spanglies and lost quite a few shrimp to the small forkies so I moved between the islands and found bass in 2 different spots both in 16 feet of water. No size to the bass so I had a little explore in a few old spots for zilch. Arrived back at the floats around 10am for a last look before knocking off and the sounder lit up so i stayed till midday and the final tally was 58 bass, one tandan, 2 spanglies and 2 forkies '. All fish released with varying degree of care.

Well over a ton if you count the forkies.
Started off a very quiet day . After doing our pots we headed downstream and saw some good displays on the sounder in koala straight but could not entice them to take a shrimp. We sounded over different areas that we normally look at and still a donut until we arrived at the floats where we avoided a donut by catching 5 bass under 20cm and Stew landing 4 gar from under a float using chopped up shrimp as bait. We went exploring again and finally found fish on the sounder in between the islands but they turned out to be the dreaded forkies so we kept on moving to discover more forkies. When we got close to the large sailing club buoy Stew actually caught a bass which amazed everyone. We moved another 20 feet and we finally found a school where we had a couple quadruple hook ups to end up with a tally of 72 bass, 1 yella. 4 tandans ,4 gar and numerous forkies. The eagle had a good feed .
    Cheers Ray

Mark and I went to the western arm this morning to feed the eagle with some barred grunter. Mission accomplished with bycatch of 48 bass and one yella. Finally starting to find some better sized bass. Best bass 46cm. Mark took a couple of plate sized bass home for a feed.

Bass at Baroon were at it again, couldnt get enough purple lures into themselves. Arrived to a very choppy Baroon dam, waited for a short  time while setting up the boat and said buggar it I came this far may as well give it a shot. So I hit the back pockets out of the wind. I had to give in around 10am as the wind never gave up, so much for willy weather, but managed to get up to 54 bass from the back al;leys and points.Pic heavy, no 50s but a lot close.
