Finished early today and thought I might take my daughter and her boyfriend for a night fish at the barra park. Jaide isn't so keen on the boat now that she's growing up but if I say barra park her face still lights up. Jaide landed the first barra after a wrestle in the mangroves we got it in the net and the score board was up and running , about an hour later Braith hooked onto a bigger unit but ended up popping the leader after a solid 15 minute fight . Half hour past it was finally my turn and mine spat the hook after 20 seconds we all ended up hooking up and losing fish for the next 40 minutes then I f finally managed to land one then it went dead until 5 minutes before closing time when I landed a much smaller one around 50 cm. The new live fibre handled as well as I expected their just such a good rod the alvey was ok but I would like the drag to be a bit smoother,  maybe it will get smoother after a few good fish.Screenshot_20201113-215801_Messages.thumb.jpg.87a808bc22a5001020582e4eed69b8c9.jpgScreenshot_20201113-215635_Messages.thumb.jpg.92553e18edc61a401d664286a9132d2c.jpg

Good news and bad news this morning , good news is I had 5 good arches on the fish finder and I finally put a hook in a big bait to see how putting in those hours would pay off. Bad news is out of the corner of my eye I spotted a small ball sinker on the floor so I put the rod down for a second and went to grab the sinker. I then heard a bang and splash when my back was turned it was my texalium with my Calcutta 700s going in the drink.I think of all my rods as my shiney  children that don't talk back and to have one abducted like that really craps me off.

Do u want ur old combo bak davo ??????

I'm definitely not the first person to try this but I thought I'd give it a crack. For the last week I've been doing local work so every second day I've been taking the boat out before work and throwing my keeper bag with around 4kg of burley log in . Some mornings it was a bit dicey but i still have another week to go. Has anyone else had any luck trying this method ? I'm hoping it works for bigger snapper.

I think it's working Drop Bear , when I pulled up this morning the fish finder looked a bit different and I emptied a pack of cheap and nasty b.c.f burley pellets down before I put a new log in the net. There was 2 decent arches on the finder and I'm guessing the other stuff  is either bream or pan sized squire after an hour of monitoring I thought i better go to work . Still have another week of burleying to go before I put a line in with it

Dunno if it will work down south there, but back when I used to boat fish the halco scorpion 150's in the 'mullet' colour in the 5m diver version trolled over reef in 10-20m of water were deadly. You have to troll them on braid (so they wobble really hard - mono has too much stretch so they dont wobble as hard), and troll as fast as they can take - about 6.5-7 knots. You may need to adjust the bib to get them to swim completely straight.

Also worked was the halco laser pro 190 in the 'mullet' and the blue colours, in the 'crazy deep' version - note the crazy deeps always need adjusting so they swim straight. Again troll as fast as possible - about 5.5-6.2 knots. Use in 20-30m of water over reef. The wahoo also love them if you go off the reef to about 80m depth. Big GT's in 10-20m of water love these too.

Once you get a fish troll back over the same area.

Back when I lived in Kiribati (see: https://www.facebook.com/betiofishos/) I trolled with others in the boat using various other lures/ rigged baits, and I reckon 19 strikes in 20 were on my rig.

Must troll on braid (with 2m of jinkai leader to absorb some shock, and 6 inch wire at the lure), and troll as fast as they will go (after adjusting so they swim straight.

Thanx m8 went with davo 2day he got 2  n I got  a sweetlip so me n mum n my sis had trouts 4 dinna il try ur way nxt time
