  1. Ha yep if it wasn’t for the child seat I’d be all good. But good to see your setup, that gives me confidence, thanks
  2. Thanks mate yep going to have a chat to the roof rack place and grab everything I need to give it a go.
  3. Hey all, I've recently bought a Hobie outback, however in terms of transporting it we have a 2011 toyota corolla hatchback with roof racks. After lining them up I'm very skeptical that it'd be safe on such a small car. We also have a Forester without roof racks at the moment but the corolla would be the preference. Does anyone have any experience transporting a kayak on a small car? Or does it just sound too sketchy? Thanks
  4. Ha thanks mate, some good fishing up the rivers these days, it's a shame.
  5. Hi all, I pretty much only do catch and release but I was wondering whether people are taking home fish around Sydney in a few areas: * Pittwater - I'd assume that it would be fine here? * Narrabeen lagoon - seems quite enclosed and close to residential/roads. * General beaches - I assume most ocean facing areas are ok? * Middle Harbour area - Guessing it would fall under the general advice on no more than 150gm / month which is a no from me. I wouldn't mind taking the occasional one home for dinner, just looking for general areas that'd be considered safe. Cheers!
  6. Hey all, I've inherited a Millerod Finesse Freak rod without a reel. I was hoping for a few suggestions, but generally should I be looking for something around the 2500 size? Or go smaller? It's a light rod, so again assuming a reel on the lighter side. I likely won't be able to go out and try a few combos, but looking up to $500 I guess? Thanks.
  7. That's great thanks for that, really useful. I have done some rock fishing lately (snapper, trev etc.) But my current setup is too light. Cheers!
  8. Hey all, I was hoping to get into fishing for Kingfish, likely shore based / rocks. Would anyone be able to recommend a rod / reel or talk me through what I'd be looking for? Thanks!
  9. Thanks Ellicat, it's actually that very website that confused me. I thought Salmon was more of a winter thing around here? Well good to hear Tailor and salmon will still be around.
  10. Thanks Gad, completely forgot to mention my location. Based in Sydney.
  11. Hey all, I'm just trying to work out what species you can target in spring and summer both off the beach and off the rocks. Are Tailor or Salmon still about? Thanks!
  12. Thanks Ellicat and AUS-BNE-FISHO, figured that was the case.
  13. Hi, I have a shimano coltsniper bb 106mh. Shimano says its for lures, but what would be stopping me from rigging it for bait? Would it cast poorly? What would the difference be? Thanks!
  14. Thanks Ellicat, i'll give it another go. Is tide a consideration, would it just not be worth it at low tide?
  15. Thanks Hweebe that makes sense.
  16. Hey, I've just picked up a rod and reel for beach fishing - A shimano coltsniper BB 10'6" MH and Diawa saltist MQ 5000D-H. I had a couple hours down at a local beach over the weekend with no luck, I was looking for deeper pools / gutters which I seemed to be hitting and I was using 65g metal lures. . At a guess I'd say I was casting no farther than 50-60m? My question is do people tend to cast much further out past that sand bar to deeper water or is it generally the closer to shore gutters that are going to be more successful? Cheers
  17. Hi all, I mostly use fly rods but looking to get into beach fishing. I just had a quick question about the difference between a max lure and max plug size listed for Shimano rods. One rod I was looking at had a max lure size of 80g and a max plug size of 65g. I just wanted to understand why there is a difference, does it have to do with the drag on retrieve or something. Also I assume a plug is like a popper? would that include stickbaits? Thanks.
