  1. Thanks to everybody for your replies. (Apologies for my delay in replying).

Sounds like orange or multi-colour isn't going to be a huge factor in the decision.

This is not a "preference" thing. It's because the thinner stuff tends to only be multi coloured.

Diameter is what I tend to preference. I mostly use spin gear so I am looking for capacity and strength.

When @Junky said the above ^. I was reminded of some stuff i saw online.

    For Jbraid x8 Expedition:image.png.a73e5b524702db1720005b3a32162728.png

    Then for JBraid x8 Grand

I had plans of purchasing 8lb braid. As i mentions previously i had always used JBraid x8 Grand which is PE 1 for 8lb. However the new Jbraid Expedition for 8lb is PE 0.6.

Then when i look at this table below I ask myself, is 0.037mm (the difference between 0.6 and 1 PE braid) really going make a huge difference.

I would love to hear what others have to say about line PE. Seeing as Jbraid 8 Grand for 8lb is PE 1 should I get Jbraid Expedition in PE 1 12lb??

    All advice is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

  2. G'day Everybody.

Just a quick question, I've bought a new reel (Daiwa Kix 23 - 2500). I have always used J-Braid Grand x8 for all my other reels, however, since it is a new reel, and Daiwa recently came out with their 'new and improved' braid line, (J-Braid Expedition), I would like to try that new braid out.

My confusion is, the expedition only comes in orange, or multi colour braid line. For me in the past I've always used blue braid (sometimes green or yellow). I am wondering if anybody has used it and has a preference, what would you recommend, i do basic river estuary fishing (the bread and butter species).

From what I understand, due to leader being clear the braid isn't too visible for fish, braid colour is really only for us humans to see???

All advice is very much appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Peter

  3. Sounds good, as I said only really going to target bream, flathead, whiting etc on this rod so I wouldn't go over 3000. Thanks for everyone's feedback, ideas and support. Tight Line, Peter.

PS. I was just using my 2nd custom rod which is identical only that it is black and silver coloured. ---- I managed to catch 4 bream in 1 hour on a risky critter, (29,30,31,34cm). I'm pretty stoked, sorry don't have any photos.

  4. G'day Everybody.

I recently decided to attempt to create my 4th custom rod. It was deeply inspired by the Daiwa Kix 23. (Black, Olive Green, Silver, Gold). It is a Samurai Premium Rod blank, 2-6lb, Medium Fast, 7'0.  All was done using Fuji reel seats and collars, guides etc.

     Below are some photos:

I'm very proud of myself, I have gotten quite fast at it now, I did the design above the reel seat in about 2-3 hours. I completed all the guides and the tip in just over 3 hours. I planned to have done a full covering for the design on the bottom but I ran out of green thread.

All the guides have had epoxy applied, (2 coats, very clear, no bubbles and very smooth and shiny). I will need to epoxy the reel seat design at some point otherwise, I am very happy with the outcome.

Please let me know if you would recommend the Daiwa Kix 23, in sizes 1000, 2000, 2500 or 3000?

Thanks for all feedback in advance.

    Kind Regards,

  5. Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a UV torch to charge up my lumo beads. etc.

Will looking online it commonly comes up with 365nm and 395nm. Which one is better for fishing purposes, to charge up lumo beads and other lumo things. If you have other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks for everyones assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Peter

  6. Okay! I've got a Daiwa Tierra 3000 size laying around, spooled with 8lb and have got 10lb fluro for leaders, sounds like a plan!

Any suggestions on a failproof lure/s to start off with. I've got loads of soft plastics, I'm only just starting my collection of hard bodies, perhaps a bait that aust bass like. Thanks for your help.

    Peter.
