It was dead low tide when I started this morning, but the bass were not playing. Lucky I have been to this spot several times before and knew what was going on. So I walked as far as I could to meet the incoming tide and it was fish on, fish on, etc.
Had to keep changing lures to keep them interested, beetlespins, spinnerbaits, blades and chatterbaits doing the job, managed 21 all up before the back caved in.

It only rained once today at the western arm from 6.10 am until midday when we returned to the ramp. The bass were hungry and we finished up with a tally of 117 bass.

It was another good (but wet) day on the Shorncliffe Pier for whiting with Max getting a good feed. The size of the fish has improved with most fish on or above 30cm and one sand whiting mixed in with the yellowfin whiting. Yabbies and bloodworms (Cribb Island worms) did the trick as usual.
It is such an easy and consistent spot for whiting and I am always surprised that more people don't give it a serious go.

Back at it until the back give in Saturday morning. After catching 51 and they were still hitting lures it was hard to give in, but lucky I did because I was ratshite for the rest of the day. I was also happy that I got a few on a new creepy crawly a copy of a Nikko Hellgramite (even sounds scary)
Anyway here is some of them, more to come later, just cost me a hundred to get the computer working.Forgot to mention I got home without the loss of any blood, wife was pleased.

Been nearly 3 weeks since i wet a line as i have been busy installing new floor in the boat. I decided on a trip to NPD to see if the fishing has improved after the rain. Things were looking good with the water cleared up significantly. Plenty of shrimp in the pots with a lot of them jet black from being in the pots for so long. The photo tells the fishing story

Spent all night friday night at the hospital with the wife, blood pressure out of control, I didnt know I had that much effect on her,After I left at nearly 6am they said her blood pressure came down, so they sent her home.
So with only 0ne hour of sleep during the morning, feeling like shite, I decided to go get amongst the escapees in the pine river. Well the lack of sleep and the pain left me as soon as I started reeling in some good bass.Couple of mates were arriving later and by the time they arrived to start the walk in I was up to 40 bass, then while waiting till they got to me I caught another 4.  I left before them, saying if I fell over they could pick me up on the way back, well I couldnt help myself there was a good pool so I picked up another 6 to make the tally up to 50.Totally exhausted I made it back to the car and when I got home I skulled a ginger beer that someone left in the beer fridge, before the wife told me it was heavy in alchohole.Forgot to mention there was 3x 50cm bass amongst them.Hard to get up the bank.

Got a $50 voucher for fathers day for BCF and already had 2 vouchers for Annaconda. So off to BCF first to get some beetlespins and jig heads, plus zman plastics. Well I got all that except the beetle spin frames. Off to Annaconda for a life jacket with pockets (because the hatch on my kayak is to hard to get at as its half under my ass and thighs) Never had any so got some line and a couple of lures and got another voucher for change.
So later on I slipped down to the river for a quick session, never even thought about the gear I purchased was still in the car, forgot about it altogether. Anyway managed half a dozen in an hour before the back caved in. Paid the price last night as the bad old sciatica hit me at 1.30am this morning.

I had a job to stay on my feet bankside yesterday arvo as the buffalo grass kept tripping me up.At one stage I had to do a para roll down a 10ft embankment, lucky the grass broke my fall and not my limbs.
Anyway the fishing was crazy again,Mate Glen came with me, thats him with the big smile on his face after he landed a decent fish. Most bass were on the Zman pink paddletail, but before I left I was determined to get a few on the slime color one.

Another arvo session, put the footy on tape and off to the local, not for a drink, but for a crazy arvo fish for bass. Although talking about drinks, I got a shock when I took a big drink from my water bottle, it was straight water, I grabbed the wrong bottle, should of been cordial.
Anyway I walked until the back and legs refused to go any further and managed quite a lot of healthy bass. Aim is to get them before the bullsharks clean them out. Beetlespins, spinnerbaits and blades done the trick.Easy to see why we are only getting small ones in the dam.

Used plenty of different lures yesterday arvo, but the pink was the winner.Caught some in the skinny water before I got to my usual spot, as the cloud cover made them brave enough to move out of their hidy holes.

Headed off yesterday morning to a river not far from home, that I hadnt been to for quite awhile, walked the bank for 2 hours for zilch, not a touch.Managed to get through a barb wire fence only to lose my balance and fall on some barb wire left from the floods. I had my snake gaiters on but the wire still got my legs in a few places, I dont think they would hold up with a snake bite. So home for lunch and some wound dressing.
Out again after lunch to a familiar spot and managed to get amongst them. When I arrived it was sunny and the fishing slow, but when the clouds came over it was like turning on the switch the bass came out of their hidy holes.Managed 3 x 47cm models amongst them, one had a tag that was tagged by Ray in 2015.Another looked like it had been attacked by something.

After a donut at NPD on Sunday the Hinze western arm turned it on for the 3 of us today. Very cool breeze first up but we persevered and headed down to the bay past the bay with the red float.  About 100 yards before  the first tree I spotted a few fish on the sounder and hit the spot lock. We pulled around 40 or so bass from there before it went a bit quiet around 8 o'clock. We then tied up to the tree and ran out of around 10 .30. We had to fish the shallow side of the tree ( 28 to 30 feet) as the deep side ( 45 feet ) was producing the odd fish with barotrauma. Tally was 100 bass when we ran out of live shrimp. Only 6 fish just over to 40cm mark and 14 under 30cm. All tagged and released except 2 bleeders that went to the eagles.

Wife had the physio, cleaner and massage yesterday between 12 and 3pm, so I slipped down to the local again. Bass were a bit smaller but the last one was a skinny and 47cm. Blades and beetlespins done the job again.

Was sitting at home bored xxitless, so I dropped down to the local.Idea was to take a camp chair, bucket of shrimp and relax by the creek. Well when I got there I quickly found out I left the shrimp at home. Lucky I had a few lures, so headed to the water edge, flung my back pack right on top of a 5ft water python, it just grinned at me and slid into the water.
First up got a few on beatlespins, then moved onto blades the bass just kept hitting the lures. For a bit excitement I put my foot down a hole and had to throw a rod with a fish on and take a star dive, lucky the bank was soft sand and I didnt bleed at all (thats a first )pic heavy.

Another good day at hinze western arm our shrimp traps were very disappointing with only 5 shrimp in them after rebaiting them last Sunday. Think we may have s sharefarmer there, If lean next trip we will have to move them elsewhere. Fortunately i had a lot of shrimp in my tank at home that I had brought along. We went downstream to our favourite group of trees We pulled up to the first isolated tree and caught 30 odd bass in the first 90 minutes with most of the fish around the 30 to 33cm mark. At the end of the session the school moved to the other side of the tree which was 47 ft deep compared to 35 feet on the other side of the tree and we noticed that the fish were suffering from from barotrauma so we moved to the next group of trees where we caught all the fish last Sunday. The fish were a better size between 35 and 40cm and when we ran out of bait the tally was 46 bass. Hope the shrimp traps are more productive next trip

Elecy motored down to the easten boundary quickly yesterday morning(well as fast as the elecy goes ). Found a school right away and got a few on the chatterbait, then they moved on.I was about to move when I looked at the sounder and it was lit up,so the words do not move kept ringing in my ears (dont know who was saying it) so I stayed and managed 53 bass all up, a few good ones but mostly rats. Bring on the clear water.Had to avoid a water python sunning on the ramp.

Best day for a while at the western arm today. Launched at 6am and headed downstream and tried some new areas up in the eastern arm  with nothing showing on the sounder so we reverted to some of our old spots for still nothing until we saw one fish against an isolated tree which Rick promptly hooked using a live shrimp. We persevered for 15 minutes for nothing else and tried a couple of other trees till Joy was on . We stuck to this tree for 3 hours and the fish were passing through intermittently. The fish seemed to be travelling from the deeper side of the drop off at 45 feet to the shallow side of 30 feet . We were back at the ramp with a tally of 28 bass between 25 and 43 cm with the majority of them over 30cm. All tagged and released.

Today the PRFMA arranged for Members to fish in the Sailing Club area of North Pine dam where we measured and weighed all fish caught. We found the fish a bits scarce and much smaller than previous events but that may have just been me and the area that I chose to fish. We only boated 45 bass and one tandanus. We stopped fishing at midday to avoid the Friday traffic on the gateway.

Headed up to the cleaner water out at NPD yesterday in search of a few fish but they were hiding and would not play. So I came back to where the fresh clean water met the muddy water and found some small bass that were hungry. Managed 37 on shrimp before heading home for an early soup for lunch.
