Where is a great place to catch mud crabs in and around Brisbane? We don't have a boat so a place accessible by land would be great. We are looking at Boggy Creek pinkenba or near Boondall Wetlands.

Photo for inspiration … 😁. My brother took 4 as he was heading home and we were confident we’d get more …. 🙄.

Yep, good call Gad. We put some in via kayak/canoe in Tingalpa Creek within the last week and had two stolen in the main channel within view of the fishing platform which is popular IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY ....... 🤨🤬. I'd checked them in the morning (no luck - they'd been checked ..... 😞) but still had one more to find so I re-baited and planned to come back in the arvo closer to low tide to find two gone and someone else's pot in their place (above what we assume is a cracked water pipe or otherwise a wonky hole - my brother and dad pulled three crabs out of that pot the day before 🙂). They pulled out 6 in total for the first overnight soak so at least we got some crabs for our efforts.
Actually @Sky, another tip is to cable tie closed the top of your pot so you know if someone has opened it (they'd need to cut it) to steal your crabs. Doesn't stop them, but makes you think twice about re-setting them ......

I'd hop on Google Earth and go from there. Generally speaking, the harder it is to get to, the better it will crab, but obviously it's then a trade-off as far as how much you're prepared to trek through mud, sandflies, spiders, etc .....  🙂. Good luck. Once you pick a spot, or spots, try to take note of patterns regarding rainfall, tide sizes, time of year to work out when they are likely to be in that area in numbers.

Yep same advice as KM. pretty much everywhere has muddies. We used to get them off the rock wall near toowong. Not a special place or anything.
Post up some pics of your trip 🙂

only added advice I will offer on  KM's, and Drop Bear's is if you intend to set pots and leave them unattended for any period of time, hide/camoflauge your ropes and tag/float well....
most low life share farmers and their low life rellies, and mates are still on holidays with plenty of time to raid, and/or steal your pots.... sad, but active low life's are part and parcel of life these days
Hope you have rewarding efforts 🙂
