  1. 3 metres of 8mm will be sufficient. I run that on a 4.7m ally runabout with a 4kg sand anchor or reef anchor. Never had any problems with the reef anchor pulling or the chain getting stuck. I wouldn't go rope to anchor, as rope has some buoyancy, so your anchor may not set properly. Also there is the risk of the rope wearing through on reef. Anchor socks are great, but the drawback is they collect and hold sediment.
  2. We had a similar day yesterday. The only legal fish was dropped beside the boat. That's fishing.
  3. Getting kids out for a fish, getting yourself back out there, laughs, fish, and your favourite spot for brekky. Hard to beat.

  6. Good luck if you get out. It'll be a good way to kick off the May comp. Secret signal for May is a pointing finger -
  7. Yeah, my bad. I've been up since 3.30 this morning and didn't even look at the weather before suggesting. Don't go to the Redcliffe reefs.
  8. Nice day and haul, Neil. That southerly chopped things up a bit in the bay today. @benno573 and I came upon a huge, thick school of herring at the Pin one day. We made the mistake of throwing the castnet. We got about 200 in one cast. 7 out of 8 of them were stuck in the net. It took us a good hour to get them all out. Never again. haha
  9. I'm not sure. I think there was an issue with mercury. @rayke1938 will know.
  10. Great shot. A lot of trees to choose from. haha
  11. Better score next time now they know you're back into it.

Still, there's only a few points between the bottom and 3rd place.
  13. Wow, sounds a bit too hectic for me. How was the ramp rage ?
  14. Good day out, but played with fire and got burnt - that's not what the doctor ordered. haha
  15. The water always looks so good with fog on it. Good numbers. Worth the drive.
  16. Let us know how you get on.

Top 7 after this round -
  18. Fun read, but such a frustrating day. Plenty of time to reflect in the traffic. Those grinners seem to be in big numbers all around the bay lately.
  19. Thanks for sharing. haha
  20. Good score. You needed to give yourself a get well gift. haha
  21. Yeah, no chance. @Terry H used to target the ones at Moreton on his 80W and epic battles ensued with a few landings on the beach. Wouldn't happen at the jetty, like you said, Ed. I would have thought they would be more commonly seen there ??
