Bit windy and a few showers today at the western arm. Got plenty of exercise putting on wet weather gear and removing it when the sun came out.. We still managed 65 bass and one tandan and a few barred grunter for the eagle . A lot of the bass were between 30and 38cm. Mark caught a tagged one but I do not have the details yet.

Done a bit of exploring up at Baroon dam, started off trolling, checking out old spots. Also had a few casts to the edges before settling down to some shrimp fishing.Managed 62 before the wind got a bit to strong.Plenty of good sized bass, with a few over 50cm.Pics later as getting used to all new computer settings

Another great day with 72 bass tagged and released plus a couple under 20cm that were too small to tag. The usual big tandans and quite a few spangled perch stealing bait.
Only went to 2 drop offs upstream and ran out of bait and back at ramp by 10am.

3 of us went to western arm this morning. After doing our shrimp pots we found bass and barred grunter in among the painted trees.  The eagle had a good feed on the grunter and one small bass that swollowed the hook. Hai just pipped me for the smallest bass his 20cm won the day. We ended up with 48bass knocking off at 10am. Best bass only went 40cm.

Good day for some at Baroon Pocket today. Rick not very happy when a large fish ripped his rod from his hand whilst he was fighting it. ( Possibly a large mary certainly too strong for a  large bass or tandan). I am afraid that i laughed at the expression on his face as the rod speared into the water. At first fish were hard to find apart from spangled perch and by 9.30 we had only boated 16 fish but 6 of them were over 50cm and after spending a fair bit of time trying to find the lost rod we moved upstream where we found a good school that we sat on till we ran out of bait at 11am. I even managed to get a photo of Rick catching a brown bass he normally releases them off the side before I can take a photo. Stop for a mandatory bucks pie at Landsborough on the way home. Back to old stamping grounds today with Craig after an unnamed decky locked his car keys in the boot at a servo. 3 bass,1 yella a few spanglies plus culling around a dozen forkies. Sat back and watched the sailing boats to relieve the boredom.

One of the pics shows why I call it little Canada, with all the pine forests around the edge.
So was it a good day, well fishing wise yes 76 bass, just had to fight my way through the spanglies.Caught them on spinnerbaits, trolling hardbodies and shrimp. One pic shows the spanglies on the sounder.
So the bad day, a bass swallowed the hook so to avoid trying to get it out I decided to cut the line, this resulted in my rod going over the back of the boat in 30ft of water. Another $250 lost.Rod,reel and line.

Decided a trip in the yak was in order, so lake K was going to be the place. While loading the yak on the car roof I damaged my shin while nearly falling off the step ladder, I braced myself a bit hard and created 2 blood blisters on my shin which burst and sent blood running down my leg.
Anyway the fishing was a bit slow but managed to find several hiding in the weeds. Wife says sell that bloody kayak, but I hope to keep at it for a few more years.

Went to the western arm this morning with Rick and Joy having high hopes as Rick did very well on Monday morning with well over 30 bass including a 52 and a 48cm bass. We found plenty of barred grunter but not many bass. Best 3 bass went 33cm,32cm and a pinched tail 30cm plus 11 all well under 30cm.Highlight of the day was when we returned to the ramp and met some dedicated members of the local stocking association in the process of releasing 60000 healthy bass fingerlings from Redate hatchery. Good to have a bit of a chatter and see our permit fees being utilised .

Percy has invited all his mates to roost on the ramp. It certainly cleans out your sinuses. I wonder if there is any truth in the rumour that it kills covid germs.Apart from the forkies there was no great number of fish but the quality was well up there with Craig increasing his pb yella to a 50 cm football.

Rick set a 12 year record at NPD first time he did not catch a reportable fish. He avoided the dreaded donut with a 6 inch forky which he flatly refused to pose for a photo. Fishing was tough with only 5 bass, one yella, one tandan and 5 forkys boated all caught on live shrimp. Andrew and Adam were happy to take some fish home for a feed and Rick was in Joys good books as she did not have to clean any fish.

Middle son Troy took his daddy for a walk this morning. He was there in case I decided to see if I could fly. Fishing was slow but we still managed to get enough to keep us interested. All bass taken on spinnerbaits and not far from the bank.We were doing big casts but they would follow until they seen the bottom then have a go at it.

Woke up early and weather looked ok so I decided to go for a solo run to NPD. Been a couple of weeks since I was last there and wanted to see how my pots fared after fisheries visit. They seemed ok with plenty of shrimp in the few I pulled. The weather stayed fine until I hit koala straight on the way back to the ramp when it poured. I was unable to better Dinos 15 kg forky in fact I did not catch one or anything else in 4 hours fishing. Hope I do better today as I am going to hinze.

Luc53 reacted to Dinodadog in 15kg at NPD biggest yet.
Had a reasonable morning at NPD yesterday, managed 31 bass and the monster from hell. Biggest forky I have caught out there and I have caught some whoppers. My hand held scales bagged out at 25kg but actual size was more like 15kg, it had a head as big as a shovel, pic doesnt do it justice. I made sure it was unable to breed with a little surgery. If a 3" can cause a heap of pain, just think how much pain this one would cause if it pricked you. Barbs were 8cm long.

The kid and I have been doing well on the landbased whiting in the Broadwater. Today was a really good day in terms of the quality of the fish, with the best being 44cm.
Cribb Island worms were the bait.

Bass would not leave me alone up at Baroon this morning. They attacked me at the ramp, then again not far from the ramp. I was worn out after 4 hours of bedlam. Some on spinnerbaits, some trolling flickashads in  70ft of water with the bass sitting 15ft down and the rest on shrimp. 78 bass, 6 spanglies and one eel. It was that hot a session I could feel myself melting and as I have enough scars from the sun already, I knocked off early. Most bass over 40cm.

We went to the western arm this morning launching at a leisurely 6am and headed to usual spot at the tip of ians island and only caught 3 bass in about 20 minutes and the barred grunter were stealing our scarce supply of live shrimp. We then headed to one of the painted trees at the upstream entrance of bass bay where we quickly ran out of bait and boated around 20 bass. Our shrimp traps were handy to this location so we quickly checked the traps and returned to the painted tree and got back into the bass, Final tally when we knocked off at 11 am was 80 bass and 7 tandans.
    Cheers Ray
