Fun little session. How cute are those little jew ? 🙂
Killing it with the soft vibes by the looks. We lost a couple of fish yesterday that we have suspicions about. Not seeing them is the frustrating thing.

    Hi guys,
The fish must have known its fools day as I managed to fool a few this morning.
Launched at Diamond Head at 5.30 and fished the Aldershots. Slow to start and a few small grunter,GT and jew once the tide started out. Hooked a steam train on 6lb of course and chased it for bit before being busted off. I thought Tarpon it was that quick across the surface but no jumps so not sure.
Got the heavier outfit with same lure and hooked up again to something big but pulled hooks after a long run.
Mate came with me and he got his first jew, grunter and GT on lures. He was rapt.
I good flatty to finish the day and back by 9.30. All round a fun little session.

I took my brother for a mackerel fish this morning , turned up at the ramp a little late due to road work delays on the Bruce Highway , basically all the way from the Pine River to the Caloundra turn off . Got to my first spot to see another boat get a Spanish , we trolled around for about 20minutes without seeing to many exciting things on the sounder , so decided to move on . We then came across a big school of long tails so I popped a stick bait into them twice and hooked up , took me a good 10minutes to get it up to the boat only to see it get swallowed whole next to the boat - very easy release and bye bye stick bait. Moved on again and found a big school of Spanish .  My brother took the first strike . It got sharked , we then had a double hook up , both got sharked . We then moved again . At this stage my brother decided to stop fishing and just drive the boat . I then managed to get a Spanish onto the deck . Lost 5 more to sharks , and a few more to broken wire,  broken hooks simply by going too hard on them. Then surprisingly got another one on the deck and mission was complete with a good feed.
We had two very dramatic shark attacks today , pity I didn’t get them on video . First one was a Spano completing a big cart wheeling  jump , followed seconds later by a  high spiral leap , only to hit the water and get absolutely destroyed on the surface. The second one went for a bit of a run turned around and charged the boat , it then jumped about 10 feet from the back of the boat and slammed into the stern next to the motor, very close to where I was perched , as soon as he hit the water next to the motor he got smashed , a couple more inches higher and he would have been on the deck . We then decided we’d had enough and went home defeated and tails between our legs . What a smashing day!

Yeah he got his start in the states by winning the ABT and the committed and moved there.
He's won one tournament in the Elites which is amazing for someone who didn't grow up fishing for their bass.
Big dollars with the winner takes 300k.

Fished the pin bar this morning for a jew but very quiet. Not much bait or fish on the sounder.
Lot of weed and dirty water in some areas made trolling difficult.
One small cod was the highlight today.
Back early as it was a tad warm.

Hit up the new Caloundra mark from the other week with @benno573 again today. Target was the delicious Grass Emperor.
Predawn start saw us deploying baits at first light. Cuttlefish for starters. A couple of missed hits before Benno was onto a good one, going 53.5cm at sunrise.

    Pretty fish

A couple more fish at this spot before it went quiet, so we had a sound around for some fresh ground. Pretty quiet as the tide was slack, although we picked up a 60 odd schoolie on the pillie under a float.
A couple of spot changes and a few more fish over the side after the current picked up. A new PB for me, going 47cm.

The tuna were busting up around us for the whole morning, teasing Benno as they wouldn't take his slug. We saw the bait they were chasing and swapped down to a 10g slug. Still no cigar.
The floating pillie went off again, but after a bit of a weird fight turned into a suspected shark. Earlier Benno had captured a wobbygong, a turtle and a catshark as well. A few unders squire and grassies and a tiny cod, along with a couple of lancers nearly completed the morning.
Benno had an unweighted pillie floating out there and a good fish hit it - another good grassie around the high forties. At  this point we called it, before the wind was due to get up. Just after we started motoring back to the ramp, Benno spotted a tuna school not busting up. He quickly grabbed the rod and threw out the 10g slug. We watched as about 5 little mack tuna competed for it. Finally a hookup and a 30cm specimen made it into the boat for bait at a later date.
Back on land at 11.30am, we agreed it was an excellent way to spend a Sunday morning.  We split the catch and headed home.
A decent looking esky, with 7 grassies of quality size around, or bigger, than 40cm, a good schoolie and the mack tuna.

Thanks for the session Benno. (And thanks for winding in a couple of fish for me.)
