ErinGoBrach got a reaction from charlie.hans.fishing in Carp Fishing Brisbane
Hey MaCauely, Try the albert river above the weir or at Chardon bridge mate, great Carp in there, easier accessed by a Kayak but you can get to the banks, just be care full of snakes 😄 I usually take the kayak down there and grab a few carp every trip, changed the Yak recently so haven't been for a while but all ways keen to hunt some carp

ErinGoBrach reacted to Sailhand in Offshore fishing kayak/catamaran
Hi I have lived on a sailing catamaran for 17 years and owned one of the first hobie adventure islands in Queensland. I would not hesitate to do that journey on an AI however I would check the weather on something like windy or meteye and consider the tides and plan accordingly. There are AIs making much larger trips than that, but again it all comes down to the 7 pees. Prior preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance. Starting slowly and carefully with shorter trips, doing some heavy weather work on a lee shore so that if you sink or capsize etc you get to experience these things at a low risk as you will be blown ashore. You can prepare your craft and yourself to survive these conditios comfortably and expand your horizons appropriately. No one just gets out of their lounge chair and scales the north face on everest, it takes preparation. Increase your knowledge base and your fitness, get the right gear, epirb life jacket etc organise to travel in company with other vessels etc. In other words be prepared for the worst and hope for the best not vice versa. The hobies are a fantasic boat and in perfect conditions that is a 3 hour run but more likely 5 hours. There and back in a day is a much greater challenge due to tides and afternoon sea breezes. I would camp on moreton and return the next day. A much better option would be to start somewhere like caloundra for instance as there is great fishing just a few miles out. I bagged a 42kg longtail there the best tuna Ive ever caught.

Hey guys finally got my ass into gear and got back out on the Albert. Got myself a Kayak to try some ares a little further up river, no luck in the lower reaches but have finally found a few carp above the weir. Good sizes too. All dead and buried so i will be heading back to get hooked into a few more. Great fun and great fight out of them too as i expected. Any one keen to join me for a few carp??
