Was waiting on your report. Went out smorning for 5 catfish on the other side. Couple of hits on poppers that didn't turn into hookups. Good to see you got a few!

I wish all fishing days were like today, Ray. Had a ball again.
Thanks for the decky spot. 🙂
There were heaps of fresh live venison roaming around too.

Reasonable day today with Brian and Michael. Did our shrimp traps the shrimp were small and scarce but we got enough for a reasonable session. There were a lot of flathead gudgons in the traps that took a bit of sorting out. At first fish were hard to find and only small and we really didn't do well till we got to the drop off at the old far marker. The fish were not schooled up but moving along the drop off at the edge of the old river bed and were coming through in groups of 3 or four. The fish were between 30 and 40cm and in very good condition and had been feeding on small bony bream that they spat out when hooked. Our final tally was 52 bass and one 43cm yella that Brian took home for a feed. All the rest released.

    Hi All,
Arrived before Sunrise to beat the school holiday mob.
    Bit quite to start.
Caught the first Whiting for the Spring.
Two nice Bream. My Puppy will be happy.
    Caught another three Whiting.
    That was enough.
    Bait was Worms & Nippers.
    Top morning.
    Cheers
Panthers to win, even though they are not my favourite team. NSW loyalty.

A mate has been nailing 60-75cm togas in NPD for the past month, averaging 2-3 a day.
Shallow divers taken on the pause is the go.
    No particular location.

    Hi all
A quick write up and a question concerning my latest fishing attempts.
Last Saturday travelled up eastern side of Fraser with a team far more experienced than I, who were to show me over the next 5 days, the tailor run in all its glory. 1st few days it was easy to blame the wind for not catching fish but last 2 days the tailor went hard and quickly became a comp between us all. I was wrong to assume how simple it would be but was guided by some masters on the intracacies of everything from casting the giant alveys, to picking your gutter, to etiquette when your spot gets pinched by a random who saw you catch that last fish. A new fishing avenue I will now be dedicating a week to annually. (Not bothering with pics- I'm reading they're not working)
Home wednesday, up in airlie beach now for a week with the family - here's the question- any advice on land based fishing spots airlie beach /shute harbour area? Got a mix of tackle and soft plastics. Will hit up the tackle shops tomorrow but thought I'd put it out here as well. Some of the rock walls and marinas look like they have potential.  Any help gladly appreciated.

Jono4500 reacted to FishingCrazy in first bass flick of the season
I managed to score a few days off work mid-week, and being the first week of open bass season in Northen NSW it was a no brainer of what I was going to do.😀
That night I loaded the ute, tied on fresh leaders, then couldn't sleep in anticipation of the first bass flick of the season.
The alarm screamed at me at 4am, jumped out of bed then suddenly realized my throat felt like dry sandpaper and my nose felt like someone had squeezed a full tube of silicon up each nostril..............MAN FLU........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.😥🤬😥🤬.
It takes a fair bit to stop me going fishing, tried to walk it off round the yard then headed back to bed thinking, "WOW, I must be sick".
Headed to the doctors who said I had a cold (really?? lol) and need to rest a few days, he also noted that I am now over 50 and should have a prostate exam😮......and asked me " Would you like one?"
    ........................WOULD I like one?
    ......WOULD I like one?
What sort of a question is that?
Every time I go to a doctor, now I am over 50, they always ask me that. Why? Do they enjoy the nervous squeamish look on people's faces????
    Anyway,
Slept all day, dreaming of catching bass, woke on the couch at 3am the next morning and thought "stuff it, I'm going". What does a doctor know????
I mean he asked WOULD I like a prostate exam, lol.
Soooo glad the "need to fish" won the battle of "need to recover" as the fishing was well worth pushing myself to get up and moving.
Here is a vid of the morning and arvo surface session. The weather was extremely hot for the first week of spring, 32 degrees in the shade at 11am, don't know if that's why the bass were hitting the surface so well or if it was because a lot of the grass and trees along the bank had been burnt away meaning they weren't getting much food from the frogs and insects etc. that they would usually be getting?
I was using the Zman frogs.
How good is bass surface fishing.😍

Hard work today with only 33 bass and one yella. Yella made Rick smile with a 54cm grin. Hai had a bit of fun with his el cheepo combo loaded with 3 lb line,
Spotted a couple of deer. Sorry no photos. Cheers Ray
