Nice getaway, Neil. The start of Day 5 was done the right way at the Eurong Bakery. Best fresh cream doughnuts in the country !!
It doesn't look like it was too busy, either. That's another win.

Nice one Darren. That looks like the May comp winner to me.
Did the stonefish fight like a rock and waste a good bait ?

Thanks Hamish and Kat and Brian, if the wind calms down and the stars align, there are plenty of bigger ones out there in the bay to catch in May yet.... and of course bring on June and July 🙂

Well, answered my own question... according to Ipswich Marine they use the same controller so all good, just swap the engine over.
Bought a new compression gauge today, going out to look at the 60 tomorrow. Tested the gauge on my 40HP and got 107, 107, 105 psi which is a bit lower than I'd expected but ok for a 26 year old engine. It could be the gauge but it's all I've got and the numbers seem close to right so if the gauge is out it shouldn't be by too much. At least I'll be able to tell if there's a significant difference between the cylinders on the 60 or not, and I'll get Ippy Marine to put their gauge on it when they swap it over so I can compare to my readings.

Hi Neil. I get United Composites (UC) blanks from United Tackle on the Gold Coast. The advantage is I can pull on them before I buy. Sam at United Tackle is very knowledgable and has built rods professionally so gives good advice

Headed out with Jason for a quick fish this morning, heaps of bait still around in southern bay. We kept 3 squire at around 45cm for lunch and released a 70cm which always gives me a warmnfuzzy to watch swim back down.
By catch was an ugly old stone fish 🤮

Interesting morning with the wind. It was blowing a bit when we launched so we went to bottom end of Ians Island and inly found a few barred grunter so we headed to the half way spot where we boated 17 bass before the school moved on so next spot was the tip where it was a bit uncomfortable with a good chop rolling through but the bass were hungry the wind really picked up and when we finally decided to move I did not have enough power with both 24 volt motors going flat out to make way straight into the wind so had to go sideways to get out of the trees. We then slowly made our way across the lake where we found some calmer water in a couple of bays where we increased out final tally to 42 bass,2 yellas and one tandanus after running out of shrimp. As usual the eagle shadowed us all the way and enjoyed a deed of barred grunter. Best bass 46cm.
