Took the boat out for 2 nights on the southern barrier reef  with a decent weather window.
Fished mainly 30 to 50m deep and put together a good bag of coral trout, red throat emperor, tuskies, moari cod and 1 red emperor.
The 2nd night we got a whale hook up our anchor rope at dusk and tow us for 200m before wriggling off.
Got a good red bass that fought well and 2 dinosaur trout. But the trout were on average big boys.
 
 





 

Thanks its one of my best trips and the anchor rope would have to of been cut with the knife to end the tow. I do this for a living on tugs in the brissy river but whales have a mind of their own and I just don't trust them to be gentle with me.

We had the lead up to the new moon which had them biting the trout were hungry and hit hard.

I've had other dramas with whales minus the anchor rope, I hit 1 doing 30knots it must of been lying just under the surface and got me airborne. I've had them spyhop me about a metre from the side just staring at us. Plenty of tangled lines and nearly spooled before breaking off. Had them hit the boat twice on anchor.

Yeah heading forward in a hurry with the knife when it wriggled off other than that it was a top trip one of our best.
