    All,
Boats arrived.  got held up a little on the docks for nearly a week with customs & waiting for the trailer to be ready.
N/S Marine are making a few adjustments for me regarding my layout of Yamaha gauge & GPS/Sounder combo to ensure it all fits nicely as it's a really tight squeeze on the dash.
Should be ready in around a weeks' time for water testing

    Hey All,
Been a bit quiet this past 12-months, with not much fishing due to lack of motivation & house reno's ,
I think I managed 3 trips in 2022 and didn't catch a fish/ apart from catching live baits & squid,  not sure if that counts,
So I sold the Surtees in October 2022 as it hadn't been used enough and the offer was more than I paid for it, wasn't even advertised, just a random guy at the ramp liked it, so he bought it.   So, I took it with plans on doing something else with money, but after a trip to Fraser Island before easter for a wedding the itch came back to get back on the water soon,
So last week I bit the bullet and ordered another Surtees, not a Centre console but this time a 610 Gamefisher  with a few tasteful additions along with a 130Hp 4 stroke and Aluminum Trailer.  The Build will start at the end of May I believe and will be completed sometime in August ready for shipping.
Should arrive early October from NZ and will take about 2 weeks to get fitted out and get her on the water, will be a tough 6 months waiting, but I'm sure it will be worth it.
If I get any build photos i will try to add them up here once it gets started.
    Cheers Josh <><

Cobiaaddict reacted to Neil Stratford in box of brown fish.
My 1st Decky went back home with a nice lot of red fish and my brother and his wife joined us for the second week of our holiday.Fortunately we got another weather window ,so we  set a plan to fish shallow for RTE ‘s  .
Again , we found some real quality fish pretty easily. Strips of Iodine Bream , Mac Tuna and whole squid were the go to baits.
By about 11am we had a good box of  RTE’s  , then decided to move out off the shallows  and fish some deeper ledges to top up with a few more red fish .
We struggled with some Reef Sharks , Spanish mackerel , and Bludger Trevally  taking fish and baits till about 2pm, but got a few trout , Venus tuskfish and my brother even managed to extract   a  nice red  emperor .
I caught my fish Barramundi Cod, and had a massive Red Bass shortened by a shark ,after I had the fish beaten on the surface . It’s head and shoulders would have been about 4 kgs.Unfortunately  the attached picture doesn’t really show the true size of this magnificent fish .
The sea conditions had flatten some what and we had the wind up our stern, so we called it early to run for home. We ditched our left over bait frames and videoed the not so small  reef sharks making short work of it .
We sat on 25knots most of the way home   and got back  in an hour and 15 minutes. I’ll attach some photos and a video of the sharks  that you can hopefully view when the site allows viewing again.
    Regards
    Neil

OK, here is a link to pics from today.

Also a pic of the boat as I picked it up on Tuesday.
Last night did the NMEA layout on the floor to make sure I had it how I wanted.
12 fuse block with positive and negative busses - and the Garmin power leads labelled up.
Will probably rewire the supplied wiring into the single 12 fuse block as I am not overly happy with it for being able to easily check fuses etc.
Taped up the console,- drew on the master lines and then lined up the templates and used an engineers punch to get my master holes.
Cutting a brand new console is not fun - neither is cleaning up all the swarf even when you have cloth down to catch it.
Mounted the Garmin GPS24xd puck which has a heading sensor - handy when you are trying to get back onto a mark.
Mounted the NMEA 2000 backbone in place- bit of a bugger, there is already a NMEA backbone in play for the engine gauge which also has its own GPS puck.  Unfortunately its wires into the ignition switching so turn off engine and you lose power to the network, so I will have two networks - one dedicated to the Garmin setup the other the engine.  Downside is not being able to view engine data on the plotters but the suzuki gauge is pretty good - this may need a revisit at some point.
Did some boring stuff like running 16mm wire to console and NMEA cable to console.
Tomorrow will be mounting the 16” up front on the RAM mount and work out where the GLS10 will mount.  Should also get the transom transducers and power to the main fuse panel and should have power to the plotters if things go a little smoothly.

Hi everyone, sorry will get this fixed. Apologies, have been super busy lately and hasn't helped that some teens broke into our house and stole both our cars 😔
Hopefully will be fixed in the next few days.
