Mate and I decided to try our hand at Monduran.  It must be 20 years since I was last up there and the water level was much lower (currently only 1m below spill way) which may be why we had success 20 years ago with no sounder and no idea - there was definitely a lot of water and I am sure it spreads the fish out.
So short hand version - saw plenty on the sidescan and even more on the Livescope.  recorded the livescope and its quite interesting as you can actually measure the fish - had 3 fish that would have been the magic meter all within casting zone and could not get them interested.
And that was it, 4 sessions, and not one strike - didnt feel too bad because everyone we spoke to was exactly the same…zero fish and worked hard for nothing.
Dam was pure, did all my high school in Bundy and played junior golf comps at Gin Gin and have no recollection of it being so green.  Really nice time to visit.  Temps were quite mild with the SE wind.  Still obviously summer but not ultra humid like Bris when we left.

According the almanac it should have been excellent fishing conditions, but clearly fresh water barra cannot read.  NE winds are apparently preferred but we still found plenty of fish just could not raise a bite.
If I can find a storage solution I will share a screen recording of the livescope.  It was my first chance to just work it really hard and play around with things to see what worked or not.  Much easier than when you are getting bounced in the ocean or river to sit on the gunnell and tinker.
So report is - saw lots, caught zero 😀

Headed out with Steve ( @Old Scaley ) this morning. The plan was to take a window in the weather and fish the Rous early and head back to Green Island around 10. The weather didn't play ball and it was fairly rough as we approached my mark, so the call was made and we headed back to Green, hopeful of a few grassies and maybe a squire or two.
Things were quiet to start, as the tide was on the verge of turning. A couple of small grassies and tuskies were landed by Steve and a couple of tiny squire pestered me. I threw the bait jig over to see if there was any about and landed this little trev -

    One for the comp. haha
The tide eventually changed and the grassies came on the chew. They took a liking to cuttlefish as well as some flesh baits from grinners and whiptails. We threw a couple of just legals back, but managed to score 8 in the low to mid thirties. A couple of good feeds coming up.

Also caught a bream for the comp, but failed to measure the shark that started my score for the day. It was only around 70cm, and took a pillie under a float.
    Breambo -

Looks like it'll be a while before we can get out again, unfortunately.

Apologies to those who returned to work or school today. We weren't thinking about you. haha

MrWobbygong , I used to catch them at the first green beacon heading south from the bribie bridge, fish there early morning first 2 hours of the run out tide, lot of rock on the bottom, I fished with a smallest  ball sinker i could get away with directly on a 1/0 short shank hook with a turned down eye (towards the point of the hook) something like a mustad 542 double strength , no swivel, 6kg mono main line and trace, 2kg drag is usually enough hurt on them.
Don't cast your line very far, keep the slack out of your line or you will lose a lot of terminal gear.
I've never fished braid so if you do, you will have to tie a leader to the braid first off, I would make your leader at least 2 mtrs long to keep the braid off the rocks.
You will catch your share of unders but you will also pick some up nudging 55cm, some good bycatch there as well, years gone by I have caught snapper to 3kg and on occasion tuskies to 2kg, also a good spot for tailor in winter on the first 2 hours of the run in floating pillies on ganged hooks.
If I was still fishing I would have kept this spot quite, people put in a lot of miles when you don't have to.
    Hope you have some luck.

Well, I headed out with that Northsider @benno573 for a sneaky session last night. Two entries to Benno, with a 49cm snapper and a 36cm breambo.
I was fortunate enough to jag my PB flathead, too - 73.5cm.

North side looking strong, just need the weather to swing our way! + I agree with not taking little fingers for measurement. Southsiders would have an advantage with there tiny appendages.

Got slammed by sandflies the moment I got out of the car at the ramp 🤣.  Didn't see your post till now.  Had repellant so all good once the initial itching faded.
Went up Coombabah creek first, pumped some yabbies first up and quickly realised there had been a fair amount of rain day before.  Too fresh - don't think we got any bites.  Made the decision to chase the salt water so left quickly to fish near the bar at jumpinpin - only caught the last hour or so of the run in.  Caught 5 whiting (only smallish), one small flattie and a couple of small Bream and angry little Tarwhine.  Once the tide turned there was nothing to be found anywhere.  Beautiful day on the water though.
Better than being at work 😸

Looks like a bit of fun Neil - and I would be happy with one whiting lol.  Our last two trips for whiting were an absolute bust.  Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.
How big was the biggest whiting?
