@Kat such good ideas, thanks for those.   Must admit I've not noticed a difference in the taste of Brissy river crabs that aren't full - but it makes a lot of sense - particularly given the state of the river after 3 weeks of runoff and pretty dirty water.....  or maybe it's because I like them chilli style....

@Ed. - please let us know how you progress, agree with your approach on minimum requirements - and opinion of false advertising!

Some good advice there already esp. from @benno573 on water layers.  My son and I crabbed quite a bit (before we got a boat that's painted!) in your neck of the woods, we found rocky ground was productive - or just off rocky ground.  There'll be a heap of debris in the river after the rain - regular checking is a good idea as they tend to move if light.  The Seventeen Mile Rocks rock bar and a bit further up - just downstream of the Jindalee bridge on the northern side, is a rocky area that's produced, as well, the river side of Hazelmere Parade is also worth a try - but keep your eye on your pots there as the current can be strong.

Just as a follow up to keep on the same Shallow Tempest thread.  Was there last Wednesday and while there were fish on the sounder and some terrific looking country, came up with no keepers.  Def will be going back - agree with you Cobiaaddict (after jigging and drifting with baits), anchoring and floating baits in a burley trail likely a better option.

It is great to see your catch, Hamish - thanks for posting your yarn and the great pics too.  Your dad looks just about as chuffed as you!
