  1. caught a few solid macks, and a longy around 90ish on a 15g gillies slug thats now been retired lol. They can definetely handle the tuna as long as you dont go all out on them. I had locked up the drag on my 4k trying to get that longy away from the sharks. Did get it up unscathed but the split ring was hanging on by the balls haha.
  2. Whenever I go out landbased I never have a net with me. In those situations best bet is to hold the leader with the fish in the water and grab the jighead if your game haha. Might end up with a hook in the finger if your not careful but i guess if you want it bad enough aha......
  3. Yeah cheers mate, glad to hear a good review haha.
  4. Yeah mate its a 120 amp. What sort of hardware will i need to grab though?
  5. Not too fussed on linking the sounder with the elec. will likely pick up a new sounder with sidescan though when i grab the electric. Is there any soldering involved when setting up the wiring? what do i need to get? Ive just got a regular deep cycle 12v battery atm.
  6. Also only fishing in the salt pretty much, around the bay and creeks etc, my tinny has a curved bow which might be a challenge but i should be able to rig something up.
  7. That particular watersnake does have spotlock, but all im reading is bad reviews. Think i might just go with the minn kota and hopefully save myself some troubles.
  8. Anybody have one of these watersnake geospots or have had experience with one in the past? Looking to finally bite the bullet and put an electric on the tin, obviously the cheaper option but just chasing some opinions... Thanks.
  9. when i broke the tip off my sharpshooter i just got it repaired, and then it fished fine for the next couple of weeks and took some solid beatings from fish until i stood on it and finished it off haha.
  10. pe 2-3?? To match a rod like that you'd have to go with a 4k wouldn't you? Despite that, I still target 50-60cm trevally on my sharpshooter and 2500 caldia combo, and have also landed tuna on that setup as well. All depends what lures your throwing and if your on a boat, that rod could basically do it all with a 4k on it haha.
  11. Ouch mate what a bummer. Wouldn't give mine up if my life depended on it unfortunately though haha.
  12. Anybody fished the jacobs well area around tipplers south straddie kind of way? Heading down for a few nights. Keen to throw some plastics around and try to sound up a Jew? Let me know. cheers.
  13. think that was a different issue with the connection to the tank that ive fixed up
  14. Lucky the big compressor wasn’t working then and I had to use the tiny one for blowing up mattresses I guess haha. Pretty simple little things in the small two strokes by the looks of it though?
  15. yeh that wouldve been it, little bit of water or grit in those jets is enough to stop fuel coming through apparently. Gave it a good run up a creek yesterday with no more issues.
  16. checked fuel line and filter, no issues there. called up stones corner marine and they reckoned carby straight away. Wasnt too keen on the 5 week wait and the inevitable hit to the wallet though so went and got some carby cleaner, watched a few vids and took it apart. bit of cleaner in the jets and gallery, compressed air, and i chucked it back in. Was a very nervous first pull but she started straight away and ran sweet at idle for 15 mins or so, back on the water the next day.
  17. yeah i took the fitting with the spring loaded ball off so just the hose was exposed to allow for fuel flow. no good. will try the bulb tmr. cheers for the advice
  18. i had a closer look this arvo, took the fitting on the motor side off and attempted to pump fuel but couldnt get any flow/fuel whatsoever (with a full tank as well). took the pickup out of the tank and the mesh on the end is still there with no holes. The primer bulb will push air out but then suck it back in?
  19. fuel line is basically brand new so doubt that is the issue
  20. was just having a think, possibly an air lock in the fuel line?? Maybe if i take the clamp and fitting off and pump fuel through i might be able to get it out if thats the issue. Filter seems unlikely seeing as it was just recently serviced and replaced.
  21. yeah thanks brett will have to do some more investigating
  22. its a pretty simple motor, by the looks of it, only one fuel filter which leads directly into the motor basically
  23. it feels like the vent valve is doing its job yeah, air is being let through, but maybe the issue is that its not enough, i will look at it
  24. Had the boat out the other day, got 1k out from the ramp, and the motor cut out suddenly, and then wouldnt start for 5 mins. It happened about three or four times again before i called it and went back in. Noticed that the primer blub was struggling to pump fuel, and was very slightly sucked in when i was moving. Valve on the tank was open so it wasnt causing a vaccum. I could prime it but it was a lot harder than usual, and then it would run for another minute or so at full throttle before chugging and then dying again. Has this happened to any of you? I am thinking either a blockage in the fuel line, dodgy fitting on the tank end, or possibly a blocked/dirty fuel filter??? Thanks in advance.
