Leosonfire got a reaction from Drop Bear in First Expedition In The Cheap As Chips Yak
took the yak out for its first trip during the week off Redcliffe chasing snaps with bait. I boycotted the chair idea I posted last week....only because the bloody fabric ripped before I had a chance to test it out in water 😩 anyway conditions were perfect no wind not cold sun setting to a high tide. Spent 3hrs drifting baits got hit a few times but no snaps. I did land a nice tailor and quickly released.
heading back out before sunrise tomorrow but going to try out trolling a couple new lures I picked up today TMg poltergeists they look deadly enough so hopefully fingers crossed 🤞 here snapy snapy
anyone has some luck with these??

Hey Leosonfire
On calmer days with little to no chop you'll be fine, I have some mates who use Canadian Canoes (which have higher seats than that) and can balance fine in them.
On rougher days and in any windy situation you may be quite a bit tippy, so it might even be better to just sit on some towels or something like that (you lose the luxury of comfiness though)
Cheers Hamish 🙂

Yeh just thought of using zip ties as it all lines up to the d rings. My worry is stability effect. Going to test it out in my pool first 🤣

Only found 2 small schools again, but lucky they were hungry. Managed 62 bass, jigging and bait.

Thanks Hamish. Mate the yak was given to me and it’s not a fishing yak so to speak but I made a fishing crate out of a milk crate added some rod holders To it couple other pipes for net etc.. I had a Hobie pedal drive pre kids in the Noosa days Which got me to the reefs. I’ll take a snap of the setup on my first voyage this weekend if wind stays down.

Welcome @Leosonfire - I'm no help with the Redcliffe area but like Hamish said, use the search function and you should find some good info. Have you chased any flathead in your yak, they would also be a good target species for you.

Hi Leosonfire
Welcome. I hope you like it on here.
For some information, the 'search' function in the top right corner of the forum will have bucket loads of information if you type in the keywords.
I am a yakker too, I normally go on the Brisbane River 🙂 What type of yak do you have?
Cheers Hamish
