Few handfulls of salt after you place them in clean water a few times till muddiness does not show. If camping alongside Riverbed where you caught them it pays to carry with you a swag of old Newspapers you no longer have use for.

After your carp comes up clean from the above , fill the gut cavity with celery , onion , carrot  along with some butter.

Wrap the carp whole in plenty of Newspaper , throw the bundle in in the ashes of your campfire , cover with ash and let cook for at least an hour.

Pull newspaper wrapping from ashes and as you unfold all the scales should come away stuck to the newspaper.

You will have to put up with sorting through the bones in this cookup but not that bad a dish for in the Sticks if your rabbit traps came up empty 🙂 , and fills the void..

Fergot to mention that Newspapers should be soaked prior to wrapping fish in.

  3. Mustard ultrapoint no.1s , the baitholder ones is what i use , 2's a tad smaller but just as good.

Though i Fish for my Whiting a little different to others as i Fish for my Whiting in deeper gutters mostly using a paternoster Rig , peeled prawn or Yabby..

I do have a host of other Whiting hooks both in long and short shank for Fishing in variouse enviroments for them..

Just make sure your hooks a deadly sharp..

  4. Been a Kastking fan for awhile due to its price 🙂 . Cannot justify paying a hundred odd dollars for something i can get faaaaar less in price as just the same quallity in my opinionm that is..

Caught everything from Reds to Big Jew and only time i lost a Fish whilst using it was due to my fault rushing with the knot..

Baught a Kastking reel here  n there but no more as i think they are all left handed where they make them and then have to argue why the sent me the wrong reel etc etc , otherwise i think they make fair quallity fishing products ..

Yes thats why I cut him off after he tried to bite me.

Think ide have a go at bighting you too if you pulled me out of the water with a hook hanging out of my moosh lol.

And yes they are very nice eating either filletted or as small steaks though i would prefer filleted .

They used to run in large Schools of Coniston or Northern Breakwall south of Wollongong or Port Kembla Harbour near every year once upon a long time ago and so easy to catch so long as you arranged your bait to float down slowly and if Yakkas were easy at hand , they made the ideal bait.

I just spooled approximately 450 metres onto a 4000 size reel. It is thin for its stated strength. The 24lb is more like an 8lb braid diameter which makes it a bit harder for me to tie knots. It pulled when tying an FG knot to itself to join the last 150 metres, so had to use a double uni. FG knot to leader was fine though.

Now to test it where it counts - on the water.

Dont know why the FG slipped ??, never has done for me . Try the SC knot which i find quicker and neater if done correctly with at least twenty to twentyfive turns.

    Comes out neat also.

Someone mentioned abrasiveness with Gliss ?? and from my experience compared to other braids i have to admit it doesnt hold up as good as some others in that arena though i do class the Gliss among one of my favourites..

    Just my thoughts is all.
