  1. Hi All Wanted to have some suggestions regarding whether you find the Daiwa baitjunkie soft plastics better than the Z-Man soft plastics, or vice versa, based off of your personal experiences fishing with them. Thanks - Charlie

  3. Hi Old Scaley, Thanks for the advice its appreciated. Sorry about that I just realized recently from @AUS-BNE-FISHO that the catfish in the river are not channel instead they are forktail. They sure are smelly and slimy. I wouldn't eat them regularly though, maybe once or twice a year. But for my first "catch and cook" they seem to be an ok fish to try out, due to their everlasting abundance in the river. @AUS-BNE-FISHO has eaten fish like bream and threadies from the river which he has suggested are great eating fish and seemingly much cleaner however I feel as though I need to sharpen up my fishing skills in the river to catch even a legal bream haha. @Drop Bear Has suggested a great recipe and so has @AUS-BNE-FISHO which I will be sure to try out next time I catch a legal catty.
  4. Thanks for the advice mate. Yes they are, many consider them trash fish. I'm sure they would go well with a number of asian style fish recipes. Those spikes are sure quite dangerous especially when handling larger fish.
  5. Cool that is a little far away from where I am situated but it should be ok if I'm willing to the take the drive down there.
  6. Hi Hamish Thanks mate appreciate it. Didn't know that thanks for letting me know. Yes hopefully some legal bream would be nice.
  7. Hi All Anybody know any decent tasting catfish recipes particularly for channel catties? Thanks - Charlie
  8. What an awesome guide mate thanks for this. Will utilize these tips over the summer.
  9. Hey Hamish Sounds good mate and thanks for the response. As for hardbodies I guess you are right about that as they don't sink and get snagged as easily as plastics would around heavy structure where bream are situated. - Charlie
  10. Hey Guys Thanks and much appreciated @ellicat @AUS-BNE-FISHO @Jono4500 Yeah that's true Ellicat with the recent rain I'm sure the fishing tends to be a bit miserable due to a lot of freshwater in the system. Hopefully it clears up soon. Thanks for the kinds responses and warm welcomes everyone - Charlie
  11. Hi Oliver274 I'm definitely into Daiwa gear and have a friend who uses the AirD a lot. However I'd say the Sahara is of slightly better quality for this price range and I believe it has a longer warranty than the AirD. The AirD is definitely a great option if you are on a super tight budget, but overall the Sahara and AirD cost fairly similar prices. It's really up to you when in comes to feel and quality. Maybe head to a tackle store that supplies both the Sahara and the AirD and ask to look at them in hand.
  12. Hi All My name is charlie and would like to introduce myself to the fishing community especially around the Brisbane area here on the forum. I've got a little experience when it comes to fishing in general but I definitely need to sharpen up my knowledge on Brisbane fishing. Thanks, Charlie
  13. Hey there, have some questions about lure fishing the brisbane river. I'd like to fish for bream in particular. I would like to know some lure suggestions, and retrieve suggestions for lure fishing in and around the brisbane river area. Recently i have caught a little bream on a grub tail soft plastic with a 1/8th jighead, and wanted to know if this same lure type as well as other soft plastic variations would work well in the river? What size soft plastics? What colours? What brands? I've heard ecogear aqua prawn imitations are great for breambos in the river, in lighter colours that show up well such as salt and pepper, white, etc. I have both deep and shallow diving hardbodies and some crankbaits and would like to know if these are suitable for the river also? They are definitely not the most natural colour for the river but i think they would work ok due to the muddiness of the water? Trying to match the hatch seems to be difficult without much advice in terms of size - these hardbodies i have range from 40mm to 70mm. Videos on youtube suggest using smaller chubbies and little crankbaits with sandy prawn like colours for bream. Retrieves: For hardbodies it seems a slow roll with a low rod tip is a good strategy around structure and is hard to go wrong with, is this true? Also, are little twitches, pauses, and rolls ideal with soft plastics? Thanks and much appreciated, Charlie.
