  1. Hello there, thanks for all the answers I appreciate the help, for those wondering the link here is https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08VDWSF5P/ref=twister_B097YKTVRL?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 (This is a slightly different listing as I couldn't find the original). I haven't made my mind up yet but I won't be getting it off anything too good to be true
  2. I'm in the search for a new fishing reel for an ultra-light, after finding the right reel for me (21 Freams), I scampered around tiring to find it at the right price. After a long search I came to conclusion that it was generally out of my price range, but that's when i found it, a suspiciously cheap Amazon listing selling it for almost $100 cheaper then BCF. I've been hovering over the purchase button for a while now, I am begining to think it could be a fake, or some internals have been stripped and replaced, and that's lead me here to ask a couple questions. Do faked newer generation fishing reel exist? Why is Amazon so much cheap and is it a scam? I would greatly appreciate any answers that could be offered, Thanks for reading.
  3. Thanks for the advice! I'm heading down tomorrow and I'm very excited for fishing, not so much for the traffic!
  4. I'm heading down the coast to Nambucca Heads and I'm looking forward to the promise of amazing fishing, but I've never fished Nambucca heads before, and living in Brisbane means I'm not sure how different fishing is between the states and I don't want to spend my time scouting for spots and hunting down some live bait, so I would love it if any who knows the area could drop some spot recommendations! I hoping to target my first Jewfish and mangrove jack if there any spots around that a good for that, though id still live some food flathead fishing.
  5. Sorry, i'm a bit confused on what deep pockets mean? Is there much of a differences between top pockets and deep pockets and what conditions do each one excel in? Thanks for your advice
  6. Though I might update, Just returned my friend's reel and bought myself a new reel!! It's a Stradic 3000 and I'm looking to chuck on the thinnest 20 pound line I can find. Thanks for all your help
  7. I'm looking to get a cast net, I've been buying a lot of new gear including both an Atomic Arrowz Rod Estuary rod, which according to my friend's is suitable for chucking live bait in estuaries and rivers for some larger species, I lucked out and couldn't find my old cast net so I'm wondering what the best cast net would be for both rocky (Brisbane river) and sandy conditions. I only really have a budget of about $50 - $75, any recommendations greatly appreciated!
  8. This post is pretty suspicious... You joined on sunday and your first post is a sketch link?
  9. I might head down this weekend thanks for the help! Out of curiosity is it a yabbie bank?
  10. Is there any easy access points to get on too the sandflats? Just looking at it from google maps I can't see any easy way of getting down there. Any soft plastic recommendations or tides in specific that do well? Thanks you for the advice so far.
  11. My grandad use to use his trusty castnet when the Bush Turkeys came for his chooks!!!
  12. I'm interested in giving land based fishing at hays inlet and its nearby area a shot, I'd like to target dusky flathead on plastics or lures. usually I'd head up to Bribie island, where just yesterday I smashed out three 60cm Dusky Flathead and one small Bartail (all luck, no skill), but sometimes I don't feel up for the drive and it can be quite a gamble, the hour of driving is not equal to tiny fish I usually catch. Hays bay is much closer and I think it would be quite nice so please drop any spots or reviews below. Thanks!
  13. @ellicat, It's a 6 to 14-pound rod, I'm not specifically talking Brisbane River fish, I'm fine with doing a bit of traveling to the Gold or Sunshine Coast.
  14. I recently impulse bought a Atomic Arrows Estuary Rod, I couldn't help it as it was marked down to just half of it's original price! I have put off buying it a reel for a while and it's simply been sitting in my garage, I just don't know what I can use it for as I primarily fish for dusky flathead on light gear with plastics. I am intrigued in trying something new, especially since I have never caught a fish on a hardbody lure that wasn't a flathead, if anyone could suggest a fish I could target with the rod and some lures to buy alongside it that would be great! I live in Brisbane so I would prefer to not have to drive very far to target the species. Note: My mate agreed to me loaning his 3000 size Vanford until I get my own reel on it.
