    NRL 2021

Round 3 results Thursday, March 25 Panthers 12 vs 10 Storm Hmmmm… should the Storm have been awarded a penalty, in the last set of the game…. quite an absorbing game, both sides went at each other to the last minute, it kind of had everything ….. except 2 winners Friday, March 26 Dragons 38 vs 12 Sea Eagles WOW! didn`t Manly make the Dragons look good! … I enjoy watching/listening to a Manly side getting flogged Rabbitohs 26 vs 16 Roosters This score line really flatters the Chooks performance. The couple of late tries by the Roosters only showed that the Bunnies had slackened off in the last 20 minutes, to conserve their energy levels for after match night clubbing activities…. Big shout out for Jai Arrow… Rooster’s forwards game plan appeared to be a painted target on Arrow, for everything they hit him with he powered on and did the job his coach required of him. Saturday, March 27 Raiders 31 vs 34 Warriors By the 13th minute the Raiders were reduced to a bench of 1, they lead 25 – 6 at half time… Broncos 24 vs 0 Bulldogs Well, the Broncos beat a bumbling, fumbling, Doggie’s side… the fans are relieved and happy for a week. The coach would be reasonably pleased with what he saw coming together `team wise`… all up it`s a mental step forward as a team … Broncos next matches; Storm away, Bunnies away, Panthers at Suncorp, Eels away…. Not an easy draw, but if they can keep improving in team work areas each match, confidence and mental strengthening will flow on. No miracle solutions here, this season is purely about rebuilding a shattered young, inexperienced NRL side. Next year will be about consolidating and moving forward on positives gained from this season… may be some culling (if the salary cap allows}, with some experienced import buys to improve some areas of need. It ain`t rock and roll, but it`s still a long way to the top! Eels 28 vs 4 Sharks The Sharks were at best long odds at kick off.. with no bench players for the 2nd half, they had less than no hope….. Sunday, March 28 Knights 20 vs 24 Tigers For what seems to be forever and a day, Pooh Bear has been telling all his Tigger mates “to win a game, you need more points than the others at the 80 minutes siren”. fancy that today they listened to `The Pooh`…. just because the Knights played 60 minutes of the other type of pooh, doesn’t count on the scoreboard. Cowboys 8 vs 44 Titans The Cowboys fan that flew in to Townsville from Mt. Isa and other far flung districts would have been thrilled with the `Titans show`

    NRL 2021

Round 2 results Thursday, March 18 Eels 16 vs 12 Storm The track was a mudlark`s rating 8/9 heavy, wet, spongy with rain periods, at times heavy falls, adding to the heavy track. Both sets of packs found the up the centre` grind taxing for the 80 minutes. The Storm over the years, are renowned for putting on points late in both halves during these grinding type of games. IMO in the last 10-15 minutes of both halves the ball service from the Storm play the balls appeared to fall away, slowing the decisions/timings made in these attacking sets, giving the Eels defence valuable time to react and thereby dulling any opportunities the Storm were hoping to exploit. Friday, March 19 Warriors 16 vs 20 Knights. Even though the Knights appeared to control the majority of this game, the Warriors should have taken the 2 points with a couple of opportunities they did not take advantage of, and a couple of `iffy` ref/bunker calls….. such is footy Titans 28 vs 16 Broncos For a local derby this game didn`t rise to any great heights (I`m not a big Titans fan… they`re realistically a NSW team, permanently based in Qld) and to be honest none was really expected….. The Broncos again showed they could be dumb and woeful in both halves of a game, and the Titans showed their major impact players were ex Broncos Fifita, Wallace and Taylor. Saturday, March 20 Bulldogs 0 vs 28 Panthers What can one say? some one should ring the pound next time the Dog`s are allowed out….. Sea Eagles 12 vs 12 Rabbitohs another Manly loss.... internally and externally I`m happy Cowboys 18 vs 25 Dragons hmmm. Ben Hunt and the Dragon`s didn`t beat the Cowboy, they beat themselves again… they lacked the willingness to step up and play to their rosters potential. Hopefully now Hunt has the responsibility of captain, we will see him lift and play with the ability and consistency his is capable of…. Sunday, March 21 Tigers 6 vs 40 Roosters {`Ahh rugby league, it`s a funny game!`}… Gus the goose Tigers made a pre-`main show` imitated MGM lion yawn, then took advantage of the kiosk during intermission and post `main show`… After the Tigers imitated MGM lion yawn, the Roosters did a red and white rebrand and turned themselves into `hot & spicy` disguised in smoothish original coating Sharks 10 vs 12 Raiders hmmm, lucky Raiders….Sharks were not unlucky…. Not good enough.

the only `looking` the Broncos should be showing is for a working 2 halves combination, a seasoned full back, and a couple of seasoned value forward leaders.... sadly for the near future the powers that were allowed to be spent a lot of future salary cap on ridiculous contracts to retain many, yet to be seen so called `future potential`, with no experienced talent kept to help their development on and off the field

    NRL 2021

The last time I saw a mouth that big, it had a hook in. any way.... The round 1 Bronco's performance with a few circumstances thrown in that were outside their control, left me with an inclination to tip them over the Titans this round, but then.... there was a lot that was in their control and they didn`t

I can clearly see where you`re coming from, Steve... I have strong anti- Manly feelings ( a little, lesser anti feelings for a couple of other Sydney clubs) from the NSWRL days (pre NRL salary cap), when Arthurson, Quayle and the Manly cheque book ran/ruled the whole she-bang, each of them looked on the QRL scene as if it was doogy poo on the footpath, but were happy to plunder as many of out best players and loaded their sky blue NSW teams with these players. Tipping them doesn`t in any way dilute my 100% Maroon blood/spirit, doing so is just a realistic opportunity to get a tipping point for that round... after all even if I tip Manly and they lose, I still enjoy a Manly loss more than most

    NRL 2021

Ok, that`s Round 1 done and dusted...... Round 1 results Thursday, March 11 Storm 26 vs 18 After 18+ season, does any one actually tip against the Storm, in Round 1? Friday, March 12 Knights 32 vs 16 Bulldogs Error riddled Dogs performance, and conceded too many penalties (5-0). Knights 18-10 half time. Bronco`s 16 vs 24 Eels Broncos 16-0 half time. Losing 3 players didn`t help their 2nd, 40 minutes effort, nor did giving away many ‘6 again’ calls…. In the 2nd 40, Parra got their act together and ran in 24 unanswered points to claim the 2 comp points Saturday, March 13 Warrior`s 19 vs 6 Titans Warriors 6-0 half time. Possession 49%... completion rate 91%. first game of the season and the Warriors turned out with one of their best defensive efforts Rooster`s 46 vs 4 Sea Eagles Hmmm, what can one say…. who doesn`t love Manly getting thrashed? Panther`s 24 vs 0 Cowboys Panthers 8-0 half time Cowboys possession 39% - 61%... completeion rate 59%- 66% Sunday, March 14 Raider`s 30 vs 12 Tigers For most teams it always proves hard to beat the Raiders their home ground. interesting stats for this game; half time 6-6. Possesion Raiders 49- 51%. Completion rate Raiders 68-76%. Effective Tackles Raiders 87-88%. Errors Raiders 14-13. Most of the other stats, Average set distance Raiders 36-34, kicks, penalties Raiders 5-6… By the stats the main difference was, the Tigers saved most of their mistakes for the 2nd half, and eventually got run over. Dragon`s 18 vs 32 Sharks, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, 6.15pm Half time Sharks 14-0 Result was expected by most tippers… high error count for the Dragons, the constant tackling practise they endured may hold them in good stead for playing lower teams this season.
  15. Kelvin, I wouldn`t take too much out the 'wishful thinking' I post up, after all I did have the Warriors v Titans Saturday game being played at Mt. Smart Stadium... that wasn`t too minus `the Mt. and the Stadium`

IMO, some of them would really enjoy that
  24. hmmmm, fishing licence fees, hey. over 250,000 recreational boats/crafts are registered in Qld (figure obtained from a govt. site in 2020) some time in the late 1970`s- early 80`s a recreational use fee (RUF) was introduced in our boating registration, etc. fees. My current rego renewal notice, shows that to be $23.05 now. It was brought in so these fees could go specifically into recreational boating and fishing coffers: educational materials, programs/activities, printed boating and fishing guides, grants to recfishing groups, etc. Then came the LNP government in 2012 with pre election promises of rose gardens for every boating rec- fisho... what eventuated was the recreational use fee (RUF) was put into the general revenue basket with the loss of educational materials, programs/activities, printed boating and fishing guides, grants to recfishing groups, etc.... Now don`t get me wrong, I`m not an ageing cynical old **** but I wouldn`t trust any politician or government collection of liars with any additional, out of my pocket, fees, taxes, etc to add to the revenue for these services that they already provide (apparently) and often mismanage, through our present fees and charges. eg: do we really need architectural designed additions to our boat ramp facilities... gardens etc, multiple pathways, awrd winning dunnies, that actually lessen the parking spaces in the area .

    NRL 2021

Thanks for setting up the NRL comp again e/cat I`m signed again... Storm, Bunnies, Panthers ??? (personally' I think last year with that roster was their 'do or die' year') appear to be the top contenders going into 2021... with maybe the Roosters cycling down?..... then again, I could be completely off, and just comfortably numb on my meds
