  1. ROUND 19

    THURSDAY JULY 6

Wests Tigers  12   vs  36 Sharks

Watching this game, waiting for the Sharks to run away on the scoreboard, was similar to being prepped for root canal treatment… just saying

    FRIDAY JULY 7

    Dragons vs. Raiders
injuries cruelled the Dragons, but then again, the Raiders tried hard to lose the game

    SATURDAY JULY 8

    Eels 10  vs   46 Warriors
With the Eels missing a few key players, the Warriors had a spluttering start to this match, but the scoreboard tells us they got it together and ran in the points

    Rabbitohs 32  vs  36 Bulldogs
Well…. if the Doggies were going to make a statement in 2023,  key Bunny players missing gave them the opportunity to hold out for the win.

    SUNDAY JULY 9

    Titans 21  vs  23 Dolphins
Fancy that, was it ever in doubt. LOL

Bye: Broncos, Cowboys, Knights, Panthers, Roosters, Sea Eagles, Storm

  2.

    only 5 games this round.
looking through the round there is the high chances that there may be a couple of blow out score lines...

  3. ROUND 18  results…

    THURSDAY JUNE 29

    Sharks 52  vs  16 Dragons

The Dragon’s showed interest for 50 minutes…. then the Sharkies chewed them up…

    FRIDAY JUNE 30

    Warriors 6  vs  28 Rabbitohs

after losing 4 of their last 5 games the Rabbitoh’s decided to make the Warriors their bunnies

    Storm  16  vs 34 Panthers
for 30 minutes the Storm were thundering, with lightning strikes… the Panthers waited for fair weather and ran away on the score board…

    SATURDAY JULY 1

    Raiders 26  vs  22 Titans
this game was a constant swing in momentum, with a few ‘iffy calls’ added in…eventually the Raiders held in for the win

Cowboys 74   vs  0 Wests Tigers
Tigers had just 37 per cent of the ball, completed a 52 per cent (18 from 34 sets), ran for 1003m — 1381m less than the Cowboys, had less than half the post-contact metres, missed 54 tackles and made 16 errors for the match… = 74 – 0 scoreline

    Broncos 24  vs  16 Dolphins
The Bronco’s half time lead of 8 was the final score line’s winning margin, thanks to 2 late tries to Selwyn Cobbo…..

    SUNDAY JULY 2

    Bulldogs 0  vs  66 Knights
well, what can be said?... the Doggies made the Knights look like a team of Marvel Super  Heroes.

Sea Eagles 18  vs  16 Roosters
for me, this was the game of the round…
both teams wanted the 2 points on offer, and fought for a win.
The lead changed 5 times during the match and Manly eventually prevailed

    Bye: Eels

  4. ROUND 17 results…

    FRIDAY JUNE 23

    Dragons 18  vs  48 Warriors
well… the Warriors belted the gong in Woolongong

    SATURDAY JUNE 24

    Dolphins 20  vs  48 Eels
with an accumulation of long term injuries/suspensions, etc, the Dolphins were always going to do it tough with lack of back up depth, when it came to playing the more than capable sides

    Panthers 20  vs  12 Knights

Even with half their side rested for this game, the Panthers had more determination than the Knights

Storm 24  vs  6 Sea Eagles
The Eagles were in this game… only to be plucked by the Storm

    SUNDAY JUNE 25

    Broncos 12  vs  18 Titans

Sloppy first 40 minutes by both teams, each coming of a bye… the Titans were the more settled  in the second half, and after both sides having tries disallowed by the bunker, the Titans held out for the win

    Rabbitohs 6  vs  31 Cowboys
aye aye yippee yippee aye… the Cowboys went ‘a’ rabbit skinning

    Roosters 18  vs  20 Raiders

The cockerels are fast becoming stewing chooks….

    Bye: Bulldogs, Sharks, Wests Tigers

    Bye: Cowboys

  9. ROUND 14 results….

    FRIDAY JUNE 2

Wests Tigers 19  vs 20 Raiders
Well… that score line flatters the Tigers, the miracle dropped into the Tigers laps with 13 minutes of playing time left, trailing 4-18  against 12 Raiders… 5 minutes left, leading 19-18 they still lost…

    SATURDAY JUNE 3

    Warriors 30  vs  8 Dolphins
The score line does not indicate what a hard fought game this was, the Dolphins minus a few strike players, had opportunities that did not come off for them…half time score of Warriors 6 – 4… a brain fade early in the 2nd half by an experienced Dolphin’s key position player, put his team in an unenviable position for 10 minutes, and 12 players…
Shaun Johnson showed some recalled ‘in his ha-day’ times.

    Titans 28 vs 46 Rabbitohs
    surprise, surprise…NOT! ...
points conceded would be a real concern for both coaches

    Sharks 12  vs  20 Broncos
and in Shark territory… with Kotoni Staggs showing he is chasing the possibly maybe, NSW  centre replacement jersey, the Broncos picked them like a dirty nose…

    SUNDAY JUNE 4

    Roosters 25  vs  24 Bulldogs

hmmm. for most of the game, I thought the Doggies were the better side…

    Cowboys 45  vs  20 Storm
    fancy that!

    Panthers 26  vs  18 Dragons
the outcome of this game was as expected, but… with a narrower margin than expected….

    Bye: Eels, Knights, Sea Eagles

  10. This round marks the start of the 2 half of season 2023... time flies.....
    ROUND 14

Cowboys vs. Storm Qld Country Bank Stadium 4:05pm EST

    Bye: Eels, Knights, Sea Eagles

  11. ROUND 12  results…

    THURSDAY MAY 18

    Broncos 4  vs  15 Panthers
full on committed, scrambling, and never give up defensive displays has been a huge part of the Panthers game plans for the last few years… it did not let them down in this game.
The Broncos had a few opportunities that did not fall their way… they missed Reynold’s, but the experience and learning curve will be beneficial to Jock Madden’s development.

    FRIDAY MAY 19

    Dragons 15  vs  4 Roosters
Dragons finally had enough of slewing themselves, so they Bar-B-qued a few chooks

    Rabbitohs 16  vs  36 Eels
hmmmm…. who saw that one coming?

    SATURDAY MAY 20

    Sharks 26  vs  6 Knights
Craig Fitzgibbon could have fielded half his side, and Hynes and Kennedy would still have over run the Knights…

Wests Tigers 66  vs  18 Cowboys
Holy snapping duck poo…. Benji, Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet are still jumping for joy, and doing cartwheels all around Tiggersville

    Dolphins 16  vs  24 Storm
Once again the Dolphins could not build their first half…

    SUNDAY MAY 21

    Bulldogs 20  vs  18 Titans
at 14 – 0 down at half time, the Doggies ensured the Titans would not get 26 this round..

    Raiders 14  vs  42 Manly
    Well fancy that…

    Bye: Warriors

  12. ROUND 12

    Bye: Warriors

  13. ROUND 11 results…

    THURSDAY MAY 11

    Storm 24  vs  16 Broncos

Is anyone else totally feed up with ‘bunker overrules’ completely shooting what should be hard fought entertaining games, between hard, fast playing, teams…

    FRIDAY MAY 12

    Bulldogs 12  vs  24 Warriors

The Warriors warriored… hopefully the Doggies will soon get some back from their long injury list.

    Panthers 48  vs  4 Roosters
hmmm… is Trent Robinson and the Roosters (2013- 2023 getting to a Michael Maguire and the Bunnies (2017), stage of life?... the Roosters seem to be in a state of devolving.... their early years were rocky mountain highs.

     SATURDAY MAY 13

Rabbitohs 20  vs  0 Wests Tigers
The Tiggers may have missed out on a 3 in a row win… but they did limit the Bunnies to a 20 point margin, and that is a positive for them

    Cowboys 42  vs  22 Dragons
The Dragons are now masters of slewing themselves…

    Raiders 26  vs  18 Eels
Yeah well, very few have much faith left for the Eels!

    SUNDAY MAY 14

    Knights46   vs  26 Titans
Fancy that, just when some are feeling some confidence in tipping the Titans…

Sea Eagles 14  vs  20 Sharks
Okay, confession time… I admit that I struggle to cheer for Cherry-Evans, even if he is  wearing a Maroons jersy… just saying

    Bye: Dolphins

  15. ROUND 10 (MAGIC ROUND) result…

4/4 wins for Qld teams this round.

    FRIDAY MAY 5

    Bulldogs 30  vs  34 Raiders

    8th played 14th, 64 points scored… Raiders 4 point winning margin…

I think that says more about the injury riddled , 14th placed doggies than the Raiders getting the win…

Sea Eagles 6  vs  32 Broncos
The horses starved the chip stealing seagulls….

    SATURDAY MAY 6

    Warriors 6  vs  18 Panthers
Hard fought game. Losing 3 players to injuries, and copping two lots of sin bins did not do any favours for the Warriors chances of an upset…

    Sharks 16  vs  36 Dolphins
So, dolphins do beat up sharks

    Storm 12  vs  28 Rabbitohs
The ‘big name’ Bunnies wanted in, for the 80 minutes, and frustrated the Storm out of the  game

    SUNDAY MAY 7

Wests Tigers 18  vs  16 Dragons
The Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet are ecstatic that the Tigers season has finally started with a 2 in a row…

    Roosters 6  vs  20 Cowboys
Kock-a doodle-do the Roosters were finally able to score.. in the wet on a heavy track the Cowboys mudlarks, paved the way to a decisive win.

    Titans 26  vs  24 Eels
    The Titans held on, again…

  16. No Thurday night game this round.... just an extra day to over analyse your tips...

    ROUND 10 (MAGIC ROUND)

    FRIDAY MAY 5

Bulldogs vs. Raiders Suncorp Stadium 6:00pm EST

Sea Eagles vs. Broncos Suncorp Stadium 8:05pm EST

  17. ROUND 9  results..

    THURSDAY APRIL 27

    Sharks 44  vs  6 Cowboys
well, that turned into a feeding frenzy….

    FRIDAY APRIL 28

    Eels 43  vs  12 Knights
what can one say?… at least the Knights got 12 to keep their side of the for and against, ticking over

    Broncos 6  vs  32 Rabbitohs

With 3 key payers out, the Broncos went lame…
surely it’s got to be the time, when the ‘powers that be’, need to shell out some extra $$$$$’s and buy a decent Number 9…

    SATURDAY APRIL 29

    Raiders 31  vs  30 Dolphins
I dislike the golden point pot shot endings, in extra time…
IMO, if even at 80 minutes = 1 point each, if not, extra time played for golden try.

Sea Eagles 10  vs  26 Titans
The Titans held out with their lead to get the 2 points… Manly, having Tommy ‘blown again turbo’, Parker, and Schuster out, were missing a lot of fire power

Panthers 8  vs 12 Wests Tigers
    Tigger town is roaring….
if most of us can not believe it… how do you think Coach Cleary feels

    SUNDAY APRIL 30

    Warriors 0  vs  14 Roosters
played in pee poor weather, the score line shows the Roosters were the dominate side

    Dragons 16  vs  18 Bulldogs
Despite the ref giving the Dragons a winning advantage at the 58th minute by sin binning a  Doggy for disputing a one on one  strip, on himself, the Doggies held on for a 2 point win

    Bye: Storm

  18. After the ANZAC Day games, this round seems to have come around very quickly...

  19. 2 hours ago, ellicat said:

Agree. Seems a little unfair doesn't it...

The story I was told years ago, at a QRL regional seminar, by a past QRL chairman... Melbourne were the ones who pushed for, and did all the 'to's and fro's' with the NRL for a yearly Storm v Warriors (with the very Warriors keen) ANZAC Day round match. They apparently offered to meet any outside the 'normal' costs for hosting the annual match. The Melbourne/Victorian RSL's were mad keen for it to be an annual showdown, in Melbourne....

in saying that, times have moved on, fans both sides of the Ditch are the life blood of the game, there is really no reason the NZ equivalent and our RSL and NZRL with the NRL, could not get it to happen

  20. ROUND 8  results…

    THURSDAY APRIL 20

    Rabbitohs 20  vs  18 Panthers
well, that changed the main ingredient in the recipe … friccasee’d cat.

    FRIDAY APRIL 21

    Eels 16  vs  26 Broncos

The tropical down pours did not help the suffocating Eels

    SATURDAY APRIL 22

    Bulldogs 20  vs  33 Sharks
The injury hit Doggies are doing it as best they…

    Cowboys 18  vs  16 Knights
Now that ‘The Hammer’ is no longer there to keep him honest, Drinkwater shows he can still make a difference to an outcme…

    SUNDAY APRIL 23

    Dolphins 28  vs  26 Titans
Well, fancy that! The Dolphins are magicians… they can turn Titans into concrete garden Gnomes.

Wests Tigers 16  vs  22 Sea Eagles
That was a brave, committed, and a little unlucky, Tigers performance…
Hey e’cat, hold your head up and smile, while pausing to think of the Titan’s fans…

    TUESDAY APRIL 25

    Roosters 27  vs  26 Dragons
with the going down of the sun, at 26 - 26 all the momentum with them, up against 12 for 10 of the remaining 17 minutes, the Dragons slew themselves…

    Storm 30  vs  22 Warriors

IMO, this traditional ANZAC Day round match up, should be played in NZ every 2nd year

    Bye: Raiders
