  1. Yep he knows his stuff good channel to watch. No specific spots for tailor look for bait in the main channels.
  2. Plastics are hard to fish in the seaway especially with the big run in at the moment. Have you got any metals? The 3/8 will get down on the change of tide but that's late tonight. Good way to target GT's over the pipe is to start your drift above the pipe on the run in and drop the metal close to the bottom and rip it back as hard as you can to the surface. Soon as you are past the pipe go back up and start again. 15 to 30g Halco Twisties or similar. Tailor i would go a bit further up the Broadwater or even Nerang River late arvo and look for the birds. Or look for the bust ups. Again use the metal but throw it at the birds/bust ups and crank it back quick.
  3. Go as light as possible. I think people fish way too heavy for snapper/mackeral. My equal PB came on 10lb braid/16lb leader and i've even caught 60cm fish on 6lb/12lb. I use 15lb/20lb for plastics/metals and 30/40lb for livies. You will get more bites and lose the odd fish but i'd rather hook them then not at all. Lot more fun too.

    Arvo trip.

Thanks @ellicatI think my problem was I had darker and pink jigs where as the other guys were using more natural colour. Also I was using 3.5 and 3 which may have been too heavy. My first 2 spots i struggled drifting with tide against wind even with the electric.

Yeah from what I've heard they were further inside the Broadwater. Boats good just got to fill the old speaker holes and do the hatch and step down in the foam decking and new rear light/epirb battery and get my lifejacket serviced and I'll be just about finished. It never ends.

Thanks Hamish, Had a chat with some guys at the ramp I was in the right depth and area and right jigs same as them so a matter of time I hope. Only ever got them up at Inskip Point but never really targeted them here.

    Arvo trip.

Hi guys, Quick run after work which is great to be able to do after changing jobs recently and a much earlier finish time. Grabbed the rods, the dog and a couple of beers and shot down to the Broadwater. Tried for some squid early which I've never really targeted so not surprising I donuted. Had a troll for tailor on sunset and only got a couple of small ones. Lots of bait but I think I left it a bit late for them as the would have been well upstream by then. Looking good for the rest of the week and keen to work these squid out. So relaxing and a good recharge after work. Hopefully back out tomorrow.
  10. Also the 2nd battery up the front helped the tinny in chop etc kept the front down better and a bit extra weight helped punch through the chop better. Surprised that an extra 40+kg on the port side made so much difference. The one battery before used to be in the centre.
  11. First run today no fish to brag about but was mucking around with the electric more than fishing. 1st thoughts are the spot lock is much improved, quieter and quicker response to the first generation motor I had. Still to go through all the functions but they are not too different. Tracks, heading etc.
  12. The spotlock is so much better from my first use this morning. It definitely holds the boat straighter with less swinging the stern around. Very impressive. Keen to see how it goes offshore.
  13. Not sure until tomorrow I can see its benefits and I think if you had the i-pilot link to a hummingbird sounder that it would be a must but not worth $400 without. Usefull offshore or fishing canals where you want to move a few meters,or chasing flatties and want to move spots along a bank. If it was an option I wouldn't have paid extra for it.
  14. Great trip Tugger couple of cracking nannies. Wish I had a mate with a boat like that. What rig was it?
  15. Same thought although I never blew a fuse on the old one so maybe a waste of $50 but then as you said being able to reset it is good but need to think why is it tripping out?
  16. Got a 60amp fuse yesterday used the same holder. I think i'll get a 60amp circuit breaker in future.
  17. 50m is plenty but spinning is better on an incoming tide as they move into the closer to shore gutters. Best part about light spinning is being able to walk the beach to find the fish.
  18. Some good fishing there Neil. Pin seems to be fishing really well this year maybe all the rain we've had?
  19. It's alive. Finished wiring today and tried it for a minute or so. Lot quieter and easier to see deploy than the early models and so happy the remote has AAA batteries not the round ones. Least I can get them at the servo on the way to boat ramp. Wanted to go for a run tomorrow arvo but 25kt SE makes it hard. We'll see.
  20. Pretty funny story today didn't really think about it until after. I have s stubby finger or two that let's say lost a fight with a drop saw and I injured one on the weekend grabing the grinder before it had stopped and I had some band aids on my finger. Went to RTM and the guy serving looked at it and asked if I cut it off today and came there to get some wires and fuses. But he did have a collection on 129 reels that he showed me photos of and not cheap old reels either. I thought I was bad.
  21. Jeez I'd hate to see my wheel for the last 10 years. I'm with @Another Wazza delete it now before this missus sees it. Hopefully the accessories part will just about be done?
  22. I do use a dab of sikaflex marine ellicat but she's an old girl anyway. I thought there might be interference with the compass.
  23. Batteries are under the front deck. 1 x 150ah and 1 x 120ah AGM's. Yes the stainless screws? Yeah I just screwed straight into the Ali. Is that an issue? I skimmed over the instructions may have missed it.
