Yeah I can cruise for more than 2 hours in one direction out from 1770 and turkey beach so it payed for itself now I use it everywhere 

I loaded the ute last night and was up at 5:30 this morning for a pre work fish.
I was fishing by 6am in the dark and got a little 45cm yellow belly on my 2nd flick, things went a bit quiet after that so a quick move to another spot upstream and I was into a solid 60cm yellow belly on the little 3kg rod with a 1000 side reel and light 6lb braid, pulled in another little 40cm yellow belly and then Strait away hooked into a super fat 57cm yellow belly, at 2st I thought id snagged a rock as the lure just stoped and sat there, i gave it a shake to try get it off when the "rock" started to swim away. It put a a brilliant fight with lots of runs and it definitely didn't want any part of the net. But steady pressure and keeping calm did the trick.
I also foul hooked a fat cap that gave me a hell of a run around.
Another bloke fishing down from me lost to and I noticed he lost them shortly after tightening the drag trying to net them, I definitely think it's better to let them run and take your time netting them, especially on the light gear it's been paying me big dividends. I'm definitely going to try that tactic next trip chasing arapaima, I'm sick of loosing the really big ones.

Mostly baits we did have a mate flicking soft vibes for a while and got quiet a few fish.

Very nice, ya gotta love a red esky. 
Get most on bait or jigs? I've struggled with the jigging, finding bait is working for me mostly, unless throwing stickbaits over the flats.

Been there a few times now it's  great spot

Caught plenty over the years and they've all been that dark colour

At the top of the weir where the rapids were we spent a few afternoons in the shade with a few brews

They're a pretty fish there is hundreds of them at the base of Zoe falls on Hinchinbrook Island. If you haven't done that it's a great day trip Ted without a doubt my favourite waterfall in nth qld

Hello everyone, I am getting back into the fishing scene after a ten year hiatus (I stupidly sold my boat ). I am Sydney based but hopefully moving to Foster/ Old Bar area in the next 12 months. I look forward to picking up where I left off.

Back to eastern arm this morning. The shrimp pots were a bit light on. They were placed in the submerged grass on the edges. We headed downstream to where we found some fish last trip but all the large fish had moved on and only 20cm models remaining. We tried numerous other places and could only locate small bass. Caught our first legal fish at 10.30 after 4 hours fishing. We had given up and were heading back to the ramp when we lucked on to a small school of larger fish. Of the 21 bass that we caught only 7 of them were legal with the best one going 44cm.

Yeah very happy with the Mclay plenty of deck space and enough room to sleep up front for overnighting and rides well.
