I just want to thank you for removing these horrible things from the water ways.

Chop the head off, and cut the backbone out.
    Float em down.
    They do work.

I know an old fellow that uses them for bait for sand crabs in the bay during winter....gets good bags of sandies on them every soak.

    Hey Simo,
Good to hear from you. That's quite a session ! lol   Incredible numbers. They've been in huge supply lately.
I've used them successfully on the snapper, so good luck with them.
  5. Thanks

Best used fresh as they can get a bit soft when frozen.

hiya, it’s been a while but hooking back into the platform… went around the rous monday and wanted to scoop up some squid for this winter snapper bait…… absolutely none in 6 hours but i caught 34 grinners, 7 if these on a squid jig
i kept a few for snapper bait, has anyone had good results with these as bait? thinking about slicing in half with gang hooks and floating down the water column
notvdure if the plague proportions of these monsters scared off the squid that day or i’ve lost my touch, at least i wasn’t sitting at a desk looking at a computer!

i was worried the tandoori might over power the snapper but it enhanced the flavor!!!

went to mouth of the Rous last Sat, bloody carpet sharks taking my prime bait on offer before the sun came up, then the snapper hit for a short while, fresh squid did the business and i had more bites by floating down the bait than plummeting to the bottom on a paternoster rig.
snap-sushimi was nice for breaky, and i kept another to bake tandoori-style.
I then got a line bitten off so changed up to wire, pulling in a couple nice schoolies and lost an even bigger one.
Then 9 boats turned up so it was off for an early mark and to fire up the smoker.
