Same, but I find the kicking duels tedious. Running rugby is more exciting

I'm sure Robbie (Dropbear) was just joking and taking advantage of some funny gifs.
To each their own. I played both and found soccer boring as most of the time players are standing or running short distances waiting for something to happen. I used to watch all the sports, but with family life and fishing, I had to choose the one I liked and understood the most. Hence why I follow league.
Luckily we all like fishing though !!

Diving is a blight on football but is now a cardable offence and with the advent of VAR has declined.
One of the clips shows an advert for BETAmax which really dates it.
My family moved a lot when I was young and I attended schools where there was only one code. At one there was no choice but to pay ‘Victorian Rules’ as it was known then, union at another, league elsewhere and football at another. I played all of them and the best game is football.
There is far more skill in football because ball control is limited to the feet [rugby codes should be more accurately advertised as a form of handball, rather than foot ball as the foot is so rarely used by comparison]
I found league boring and predictable. Everyone stops and sets up for a rehearsed play of the ball. Repeat for 3 or 4 more phases, then surprise, surprise a kick. Ho Hum. I mean its so boring that the ball is shaped to give a less predictable bounce.
League scrums are a farce- the ball is put in behind the second rowers legs-I mean why bother?. Just hand over possession to the opposition and be done with it. Why bother having a specialist position of hooker when the ball so rarely goes down the tunnel? The only positive to come out of a scrum is that it concentrates the big slow forwards in one area of the field and allows some space for the faster backs to run.
The age old criticism of football by league fans is that football is for “Shielas, wogs and poofters’
    Wwwwwweeeeeeeellllllllllllll………………….. NO.
Football is played all over the world and is the code with the greatest number of junior registrations in Australia. Union is at least played throughout Europe, Nth America, South America,  NZ, South Africa, Japan, and allegedly “it’s the game they play in heaven.” Even AFL, a bizarre sport akin to gaelic football is played in more states of Australia and has crowds far in excess than that of ‘league’
League is claimed to be “a mans game” compared to football,  but that’s not true either
A football game goes for 90 minutes- league is only for eighty.
There is little relief for football players because there is a limit of only 3 subs. League has/had an unlimited interchange where big unfit forwards will trot on for a short stint, get gassed and come off for a spell.
Perhaps you mean that football is less manly than league because there are so few cases of football players being found guilty of assault off the field? lol

"If you want to continue fishing you must SIGN this E-Petition to the NSW Parliament!

There is no doubt the animal rights movement are licking their lips; they think their time has come to finally get at fishing in this country while NSW DPI and Minister Adam Marshall are asleep at the wheel.

Every NSW fisher should question the NSW Government why it would blindly support the notion, that fishing “harms” the fish and why it would propose new laws that will specifically acknowledge psychological suffering in the definition of cruelty; in addition to the already existing provisions around pain and physical suffering.

Sign the E-petition here and stop this from progressing to becoming law in NSW. We have not had a proper debate around the issues, and until we do, recreational fishing is under threat."

    Hi Angry,
that would make you a feeeelthy gringo? 😊
If you click on the link it just asks you to tick a box saying that you are a resident of NSW-no address details needed as confirmation. Far be it rom me to encourage someone to be dishonest😇.
I haven't read the proposed legislation, just forwarded the message in case others want to support the petition. I dont eat meat now and kill the fish I catch quickly and humanely.  I still have nightmares from when I worked in an abattoir in the school holidays when I was a teenager, and am  disgusted in the live export of sheep/cattle and their treatment at their destinations in the Middle East and Indonesia. I know I am a hypocrite, as I use live bait and am certain that they suffer [until they are eaten anyway].
I just thought others who may have a view may want to express it before the Minister makes a decision. 🙂

SuperHans reacted to Neil Stratford in 2 weeks on Fraser Island
Just got back after  spending two weeks  camped on the main beach at Fraser Island with a few old mates. We were lucky to score a top camp site just north of the Cathedrals right behind a nice little gutter which we thought should produce a few tailor. The first 2 days we struggled against a poor moon and a bit of weed .But  after the moon waned off full and the weed disappeared and the fishing went off with tailor biting all day every for the next 10 days. I ended up tagging 200 odd fish and keeping a good feed on most days.Needless to say this year was one of the best years fish wise I’ve spent on the island in the last 48 years of visiting the island. We got a lot of fish around 38 to 45cm , and quite a few 50cm plus fish. All fish were caught on 65 and 85gram Raiders using an fast tapper surf rod with an old Mitchell 499 spinning reel . I’ve attached a few photos and a short video.

SuperHans reacted to pegz in Nice day on the water
Yesterday woke up looked out the window and the sun was shinning so told the misses i am take the boat out (no objections). Called a mate to meet me at the ramp.  Got to the ramp and alot of people had the same idea as the carparks were almost full (port kembla ramp).  Hit the water and headed out found the ocean the flattest i when i have been out on it, was able to go full throttle out to flinders island. when i got there i could count 10 boat, so i pulled up and joined the throng and drifted around. With such a beautiful day the fish didn't come to the party with just enough to keep us interested. After a while we moved position and landed the first keeper a red rocky then we moved again to the island off hill 60 ( with the seal colony) bites were slow but another keeper a rubber lips with a few throw back mixed in. then moved back to the northern break wall off the harbor caught a few flatties all under sized then i thought i snagged the bottom but then it started coming up it felt like a clump of weed or something when i got it to the surface i noticed it was upside down which i thought it was the reason of it being lethargic but then it woke up and gave a fight eventually landing it. Then it was time to head home as we had enough exercise for the day
