  1. Anaconda has plenty of stuff on sale at the moment, I ended up buying 400m of slammer braid and 300m of grappler braid.
  2. Great session Mems, I would agree that the rubbed leader was probably a threadie, I noticed the same thing after pulling in my last thread dog. I need to hit up that spot again it’s just usually too busy. cheers Thorbjörn
  3. Good size fish. Were you casting randomly or towards structure?
  4. I also use uhf for talking to friends whilst camping, I’m guessing you leave it in the car and don’t bring it on the boat
  5. Me and my dad are planning some more adventurous trips out in the boat and the JetSkis (eg Moreton run, offshore goldcoast). What type of radios do you guys use? We have a waterproof gme vhf and two waterproof uhf radios. What channels do you use? I haven’t done my vhf licence but I’m guessing it would be worth bringing it with in case of emergencies. cheers Thorbjörn
  6. I have been using a locked running sinker recently will good success but I have realised if I am using 60lb mono for the hook to swivel and 60lb for the swivel to swivel sinker portion I will lose a decent amount of sinkers. To combat this I have been using 120lb mono as the swivel to swivel portion and managed to usually break the 60lb and keep the sinkers
  7. Certainly, some nice snaps Hamish, I wasn't able to go for a fish last weekend having sunk one of my jet skis, but I have been seeing plenty of them around at the moment
  8. its pronounced Tor - bee- un, confusing i know, it really has an umlaut over the second ö which changes the sound.
  9. it tastes really good, i rate it higher than threadie imo
  10. Sorry for the late reply, it was great going for a fish with you Hamish- I’m still kicking myself about the knot breaking haha. We should definitely hit that spot again and maybe bring bait from a different spot
  11. I was thinking of doing a report but you’ve pretty much covered everything, so it saves me the effort haha. here are the photos
  12. Great to go for a fish with you and Steve. Shame you didn’t catch anything but I’m amazed how many fish Steve managed to pull out.
  13. Not at all, I’m looking at picking up another smaller one for tailor. It’s a fibreglass graphite composite so it feels much nicer than a fibreglass rod would and it’s pretty light. Overall great value rod and is used by tonnes of shore based fisherman
  14. I went out in the tinny Sunday night and with the spotlight on you could see so many prawns jumping out in front. Hopefully good signs for the river
  15. Yeah definitely. And the sandy in the bag made me laugh putting it in there. I was definitely getting some funny looks
  16. This evening I went to get my almost daily fish fix(I think I might actually be addicted- I can’t stop). I headed down to the jetty and firstly checked my crab pot, I was nicely surprised when I saw a legal buck appear in the pot which was addition to the nice blue swimmer I picked up on the way home from school today. (the one I picked up on the way home) I gave the first throw of my the cast net and caught 3 or so large banana prawns- Which has been the case for the last 2-3 days( I’ve had 3 or 4 months of not catching any so I’m pretty pleased that they are showing up) I baited up the rods and sat back in my chair. After around an hour and few bait changes my reel finally screamed into action and I raced up to hook into it, I clicked over the live liner feature of my trusty 8500 spinfisher 6 and held on. The fish gave huge screaming runs and took about 10 minutes to surface even on a 37kg Penn prevail and 50lb line. I could tell this fish wasn’t a thready or Jew but it didn’t feel like a stingray and it didn’t feel like a shark, almost like both(you might guess it from this). It finally surfaced and up came the long rosterum and big tail of a shovelnose. After spending some time directing people to get it into my dilly it was finally on the jetty, it measured roughly 130-140( the brag mat ran out). After posing for a quick picture, I sent it back into the dilly and lowered it back into the water giving it a safe release. I sat back in my chair with my arms sore and left within an hour. In conclusion, it wasn’t trophy fish I was after but it was nice to get the reel spinning again. PS : someone spent the whole night cast netting and gathered quite the feed of prawns for a landbased session.
  17. Do you have any experience catching them on the beach? With winter looming I am excited to start beach fishing again
