NPD area 3 this morning with glass out that turned into drizzling rain and then fining up. Fish were scattered being located on fad 4 , the floats , the tip of the island and on the drop off near fad 0. 39 bass,one lone yella and 25 southern strain of large mouth barra between 20cm and 57cm. The big ones certainly give you a work out. We could have caught a lot more but Neil objected to them grunting at him. Did out shrimp pots on the way back and disappointed to find most of them empty. Few other boats out so hopefully will see their reports. Some of the photos bit iffy as lens of camera got wet in the rain.

Just be able to continue fishing twice a week. Being on the water is enough.

Hinze western arm 7/3/24. Extremely slow day at the western arm today. Plenty of shags roosting on Ians island. After doing shrimp traps we went upstream and could not find a fish in our usual spots. We went up as far as the barrage for 3 isolated bass with largest 37cm and one barred grunter for the eagle that followed us all morning.

Back to eastern arm this morning. The shrimp pots were a bit light on. They were placed in the submerged grass on the edges. We headed downstream to where we found some fish last trip but all the large fish had moved on and only 20cm models remaining. We tried numerous other places and could only locate small bass. Caught our first legal fish at 10.30 after 4 hours fishing. We had given up and were heading back to the ramp when we lucked on to a small school of larger fish. Of the 21 bass that we caught only 7 of them were legal with the best one going 44cm.

Thanks, Ray and Neil. Although the weather was against us, it was still a great morning. Would have to say that that was one of the best yella bites I've had, literally a fish a drop, and they were all good quality. 

Coral trout went well for lunch at work for me and my crew even at work I spoil myself.

The wife was a bit upset with me when she found out I had been throwing the fish back my last few trips, I thought we still had a few in the freezer, but it turns out she had given a few to some friends parents.
So I was tasked with catching a few. I headed out at the crack of dawn to get a couple of hours in.
I got two in quick succession after a slow start, but then with 20min on the clock I noticed one up near the bank and made a play for it, turns out there was a few there, in 5-6 casts working the lure super slow I pulled out 3 more for full bag.
5 yellows in just under 2 hours wasn't a bad way to spend the morning.

The weekend come around with some good weather so we hit up the reef out of Turkey beach for a few days. The coral trout were good quality along with big red throat and cod.
We snorkelled around lunch on Saturday in the shallows then we anchored up Saturday night in the same spot and had a glass out on Sunday.
A few sharks got some of our big trout but most fish made the deck. I'm already keen to do another trip up there fingers crossed for good weather.
