My reflexes are not what they used to be, I was to slow getting it in.

Saturday morning took my son for a walk (or he took me ), any we covered about 7 Ks in our search for hungry bass.Worked out well with several hookups on mainly spinnerbaits and jackals. Monday morning in the boat, managed 30 from my first spot then moved around for next 2 hours for only 4 more. Spinnerbaits at the edges and shrimp out deep.Hooked a big yella that took me aroung a snag and bricked me taking my 15 buck spinnerbait. Came out better than another chap he broke his rod in half.I was in a hurry to get to the dam and when Ipulled up at the gate the vapor trail was still behind me. Dino

Had another good morning out at NPD. Managed 46 bass from the edges early to the deep a little later. Good to see the edges firering up as this is the type of fishing I like. Just need a few saratogas to show up now and I will be happy. Dino

Forgot to mention I caught 2 tagged bass,both were caught previous 1 year a go and must of been good mates as here are their numbers, U20715 and U20719, been hanging out together for the last year.

Needed a change so headed up to lake baroon. Found a few schools, first pic shows a school of small bass, second shows a school of larger bass. Last pic shows where most bass come from, a snag in 15ft of water. Some bass were on spinnerbaits and most on shrimp, 63 all up. Dino

In spring they are moving to the edges a bit more early in the morning or late arvo. They can be found at the edge of the weed in about 8 to 10ft of water. Then in between they move back out to deeper water around 20ft deep wgere they usually sit during winter. Have managed a few in 58 ft of water using slow blats ( slugs or spoons ) during winter. Great morning out at NPD yesterday, not to hot and not to cold. Bass were on the chew, managed 37 on spinnerbaits,slow blats and a few on shrimp. Dino

My little boy at Frazer, he has money, but cant afford the right attire. I was at frazer years a go with my little boy, he caught a fish and stepped back out of the line and this bloke jumped right in his place, I said you wont last long there mate he is coming back he said he will have to find another place. I said you have been warned. Just then my son returned, he just picked the bloke up and moved him to the right and took his place,bloke never said another word. Dino

Creeks I fish are very shallow, early morning or late afternoon is best fishing time.I use 1/4oz spinnerbaits, shallow hardbodie minnows or cicada paddlers for surface strikes. Dino

Had another good day out at NPD although I did not have it all my own way. I was fishing the edges and had 3 yellas to the boat only to lose them when I reached for the net. Thought I had better check the spinnerbait and woe and behold the stinger hook was all bent out of shape. Put on a new one and then caught 6 bass, before moving off to do some bait fishing. Managed 46 bass from 2 schools. Dino

Took the son for a bankside walk sat morning (wife said I only took him in case I fell over ) for only one yella. It was good for the diabetes though, 9 before and 6.8 after. So I have worked it out if I walk 3 times a day every day I should be OK Anyway onto better things, fished a few different schools out the dam yesterday and managed 62 bass not out. It was good to find the right schools (hungry ones ) for a change. A few on spinnerbaits and the rest on shrimp, nearly all above 40cm. Last pic shows the hard conditions I had to put up with. Dino

Headed out to the dam thursday morning and boy was it cold First cast was a nice 57cm yella at the bottom of koala straight.Wind was blowing but I thought I would be OK heading down the dam. Finding schools has been a bit hit and miss lately, you can get a good tally or only a few. Thursday I found 5 schools,first 3 would not touch a thing, fourth one got a few and last school the bass nearly pulled me out of the boat, got several out of 56 bass going over 40cm, some on lures and most on shrimp. Weed is still thick in places and yes its kurwongbah, when you can locate the bass its an OK dam.

I have just got myself a garmin sounder for the hobie yak, only trouble is the cover for the sounder sits about 4cm below yak. So when loading I have to lift the yak over 3 roofraks, which is not easy when standing on the ground or balancing on a small step ladder. (when you get older ) I will also have to remember not to come into the bank to fast or to shallow. Dino

As the diabetes blood control is out of wack I thought a little trip to Lake K in the yak was in order.Well by the time I found a few fish the body was worn out and it was time to head home. I managed to find a few bass, all was over 40cm with the biggest going 43cm,they were all nice wide bass like the ones up at Lake Baroon. I cast my arms off for no results and finaly put on an old flickershad that used to work years a go trolling.Got to a dozen and just had enough fuel in the body to get back to the car. Forgot to save some energy for loading and unloading the yak when I got home, had to have a poppy nap first Staying alive at 75 Dino

Nearly had a problem with the butcher bird, I had a plastic creature on the end of my casting rod, he flew down and tried to take it, I quickly got rid of it.

Yes that shows active fish moving about.

Butcher bird, I would hold a shrimp up in the air and he would fly down, land on side of boat, mumble something to me, then grab the shrimp and fly off.Had the same a few years a go.

It was a great morning on the lake yesterday, a little cold to start, then the sun came out, a very slight breeze, lots of fish, then the wind started and time to go home. Last trip only managed 12 bass, this trip managed 58 with 2 on 50cm, you just have to find those schools to get the numbers up.Even had a mate visit me for a chat and a feed, which upset Rays mate percy who was growling in the backround. Not that I am in the habit of taking pics of catfish,but the pic does not do this fish justice, it was the bigest eel tail I have caught there.

Took the neighbor up to baroon yesterday,arrived to a fogged out dam, could not see 10 meters in front of the boat until after 9am. This resulted in one fat catfish for me and a small bass for bruce, up until 9.30am. We tried a few spots with shrimp on the way back to the ramp and finaly hit pay dirt in sight of the ramp with a school of small to medium size bass, final tally 26 bass and one fat cattie. Dino

Started off early yesterday and the pain in my post op hand nearly made me go home early,nearly but I fought the pain until the sun came out.Managed 44 bass from 2 schools, casting,jigging trolling and some on shrimp. Dino
