  1. Yea if I had to describe him to someone then I would have said 'looks like a dingo only a bit broader' Could have been yours Kurt if you were quick enough.... Has gone to a Husbane and Wife security team and I am looking forward to catching up with him in a few months time to see how he has progressed.
  2. What do you mean when I start the new bike? He is spastic all the time. No quite the opposite actually he just trots along behind wandering from side to side and comes up for a pat as soon as I stop. Has learnt to come from the left side though as the exhaust is on the right
  3. Two recent additions to my family..... they didnt get along as well as expected and the Malinois was showing signs of anxiety, so he was sold to a security company. Tracker - 14 month old German Shepherd Merlin - 8 month old Belgian Shepherd (Malinios) Footnote - Merlin was only gone 7 hours and had a call from the new owners to say how inpressed and fast he was across the ground. He was just frustrated at not being able to play and get close to me while the shepherd was around.
  4. LOL.... I could weld the race to the hub pretty well too!
  5. Am I missing something or what would a welder be used for when changing wheel bearings?
  6. 3 years and 10 months + 7 months = 4 years and 5 months. Yep, thats over 4 years ago I said I needed to purchase some bearings to replace on my power boat trailer. I bought them yesterday. On recommendation I got the Timken ones. So now I just need to get around to fitting them. And yes there is still a BBQ and slab for anyone that wants to come and do them for me.
  7. Some people do attend an event and walk away with an even funnier user name than what they arrived with. They may not know what the name is, but the rest will! In all seriousness, I have been a member on here coming up 5 years now. I have had some posts moderated, some posts have disappeared completely and others remain standing for people to learn from. Perhaps its because I often challenge the 'grey area' arguement about things, but thats just me. I am a black and white sort of guy. This is however by far the best forum I have been involved with. With a membership approaching 10,000 its a cross section of the community on a whole. Would you walk down Queen Street Mall and belt everyone with a keyboard that looked funny, talked funny, or had a funnier view of things than you do? As said, debate is good, sledging is best left to competing boats on the water, and the best way to join the 'boys club' is to come and lean on the gunwhales of my boat (or anyone elses for that matter) and have a chinwag about things. You only get as much out as you put in. Ps... Who is this Gazza dude? Well back Bud, bout time you bought some sheep for your lawn! Pss.... No need for Tomca to answer the Queen Street Mall question ;-)
  8. It doesn't matter where he picks his first job up at, the kid is looking and planning and is to be applauded for that alone.
  9. Well this thread just reminded me that 3 years and 10 months ago I was planning to do my wheel bearings and still I have not got around to it. Just saw that Repco have them on special, but how do I know if I should get Ford or Holden ones. I am pretty sure one size will fit and one wont... but which one? Also whats good to clean the grease up with... turps, thinners, metho? Better still, does someone want to come and do them and I will supply sausage sandwiches and a slab!
  10. ROFL..... Does anyone else find it as funny as me that the 2 big contributors so far are Brian and Davo? Mate nothign beats preventative maintenance, get your motor services regularily, keep fuel fresh, clean things thoroughly and 5 years with my motor and its never spluttered once. There was some talk though about VMR and it not being a statewide coverage service. ie If you join Jacobs Well, and get stuck at Mooloolaba then you are on your own. Mick Fillet, Dassa you able to elaborate?
  11. Ahnie... Do you get some weekdays off at all? Monday 1st is my next available and can meet you at ramp for ao once over, a bit of a check up and then take out the boats for a fish.
  12. Boat should sit as low as practicable on the trailer without touching the guards obviously, as the lower it is, the easier it is to get into the water. Almost all of the weight of the boat should be on the centre rollers with the bilge strakes if you have them or the side rollers only keeping the boat balanced from tilting on the keel. My alloy will only sit on centre rollers and 1 side of the strakes at a time till firmed down with straps. Trailer noise and vibration sounds like a wheel balance issue. Make sure boat is whinched hard up to stem post and see if that reduces the vibration. Bust most probably a wheel issue. Shouldnt have any water come out of the bungs unless it got in there either over the sides, or through live well if the drain plug is plumbed to empty into the bilge. For that one you will just have to put water in places and see where it drains out to. Give me a hoy one weekday you have free and will meet you at a ramp to have a look and then head out for a fish.

    cleaning

Why dont you just tow the boat around for a while without the trailer. It will clean most barnincles off and you can decide then on which trailer you want. What about sticking your head into a shipyard and asking them what they use to clean hulls. I know most they clean will be fibreglass but I am sure they do a share of alloy hulls.
  14. I can see where you are coming from Gaz..... If I invite someone on my boat as a deckie, I dont expect then to pay for anything. I however expect them to be self sufficient in food, water, bait and tackle. Pretty much I am of the opinion that I invite them to join me so its on my back, but some generous chat, offer to buy coffees while I fill the boat, sling $20 towards fuel will always ensure you are on the priority queue for another trip out.
  15. Old mate needs to not hold back and open the throttle right up!!
  16. noname wrote: Not sure if this is completely correct, as you will probably find that the skipper involved in the boat crash was charged with something more along the lines of dangerous operation causing death. But will follow up in infringement issue soley for overpowering froma personal level too as my little 4.2 runabout is now out of warranty and the 40hp Mercury on the back, might just get some workshop tuning with next service to release it to its 60hp capacity.

  18. And mine still have not moved an inch..... Shortie >>> I will PM you later tonight as out for dinner about this.
  19. LOL... Thick or thin? I will check my roster tomorrow and get back to ya!
  20. chubbstar wrote: Pick a day that I'm not working and I'll do the wheel bearings while you two drink the slab;) Jayson Too bad you are already married Chubbs... I would snaffle you up quick smart with an attitude like that  Shortie... you got gas in your BBQ?
  21. About as many bearings and some blokes have brains! Shortie, how good are you with 12v stuff if I bring around the boat, the lights, the stereo and a slab?
  22. Yea thanks Jeff..... it just reminded me that it was 1 year and 2 months ago that I thought my bearings needed some attention, and here I am today with them still not done!
  23. ellicat wrote: No No... that me 'white dog'. Although someone told me the other day they thought I needed a white cane. Hope the Magistrate gives him a caning all of his own. Back to the dog, he went to an acre suburb block but the father there had had a stroke recently so was sitting in a chair in the backyard. I put Zac in the backyeard and he did a few donuts around the fence and then walked very carefully to the old man and put his head on the guys knee before doing a few more laps of the yard and walking carefully back. The old guy got up for a walk and Zac walked right beside him without bumping him and then got to the door and waited for the old guy to go in before being called in.... It was enough for me, and they still have him to this day!
  24. Here is my mate Zachary.... Had to find him a new home when I came up here, it was only going to be temporary till I got posted and a house, but if I told you the full story then you would agree with me on leaving him with the family in NSW. He is a a Staffy X Australian Kelpie so had the brains and the brawn! At six week old At 18 months old His 'glamour shot'
