  1. Some nice colors in the yellas.
  2. Koala Strait is a challenge in westerlies. Last time I had to slog up it, with both bowmount (55 lb) and transom mount (36 lbs) at full grunt I was just making 1.5 kmh. I'm glad I upgraded the transom mount to a 70 lbs.
  3. Last photo, was that heading back up Koala Strait?
  4. At least Dino you'll be able to use your boat. Thanks to the virus our renos have come to a standstill and with all the stuff in our garage, there's no hope of getting my boat out!!
  5. Great result and good on Seqwater to allow the release using an outboard powered craft. The dam's looking in good nick.
  6. Great support for the PRFMA volunteers.
  7. I assume it's all part of the "stopping un-necessary travel" measures.
  8. Just had a drive around NPD after shopping, people bank fishing at Tukuwompa Park and Forgan Park as well as someone at Forgan Cove loading a yak on their ute. Had it backed up to the closed gate to do it.
  9. Unfortunate turn of events. PRFMA's are access is easy to stop, just remove the lock that permit holders use. For the public access areas, I wonder what enforcement Seqwater will do. Just locking the gates to the various sites isn't going to stop some from bank fishing or launching yaks.
  10. From Seqwater UPDATE: To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, recreation areas at Seqwater-managed lakes and parks will be closed from Thursday 26 March 2020 until further notice. This includes all land and water-based recreation, including boating, walking trails, skiing and fishing. More details: bit.ly/33JZ5u0 We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding as we work to prioritise the welfare of our communities and employees and look forward to inviting everyone back to our recreation areas as soon as possible.
  11. The upgrades to the dam were completed in May 2019. There are still no recreation activities permitted at or on the dam. https://www.seqwater.com.au/dams/leslie-harrison
  12. Hi Dino, how's the recovery going?
  13. In the early years of the dam there was plenty of space & food and although common enough, they hadn't as yet overbred and stunted. IMO being egg layers, as Ray said, the introduction of tilapia and catfish has resulted in very high mortality of eggs and fry hence their much reduced population. Historically, some of our fishing writers did comment that in some isolated river systems will low population of spangles they can grow to a good size.
  14. In the early years of the dam, they were a common catch using small lures and celta spinners. Caught a few almost at 1 kg. Great little fighters and not bad on the plate.
  15. NPD 8/3/20 That's the trouble with going back in time, you can't garantee you remember the exact places you had been to!!
  16. If so, hopefully they do it at night so as not to cause traffic problems by having Young's Crossing closed during the afternoon peak hour traffic.
  17. If you go to https://www.seqwater.com.au/locations-and-guides you'll find guides and maps to the SeqWater dams and lakes. Both lakes require that those 18 years and over need to have a stocked impoundment permit. Both lake contain the same species. All fishing comes under the Qld fisheries recreational fishing rules and regulations.
  18. PRFMA sell Boating Access Permit to their designated area of the dam. Electric or pladle crafts only, combustion engines must be removed. Proceed go to fingerling purchases to supplement the SIP money. For more info go to http://prfma.com.au/ . Plenty of info about our activities and how to articles.
  19. Possibly not many there when the dam was built, just took a long time to build up numbers.
  20. Bloody stupid policy. IMO, just a knee jerk reaction after the last flood. Haven't heard or seen anything about the dam being structurally unsound.
  21. Maybe we should stock a few freshwater crocs for catfish control
  22. Have to change your nickname to Zippy. Have a speedy recovery.
  23. I used to get good size silvers from the stretch of river from the road below the dam to the pumping station. All the best for Monday and a speedy recovery.
  24. Lake K was built on Sideling Creek which joins the North Pine just above the bridge at Young's Crossing. Hopefully the work done means that the fish coming out of the dam won't be trapped in pools below the dam. In the past there have been some significant fish kills in those pools. This morning NPD was at 64.9% and Lake K at 103.6%
  25. I think it was more like a piercing headache
