Went down the Pin to hunt down a huge threadfin that I dropped at the boat last week, couldn’t find any bait for a couple of hours and missed the bite period . By the time I found some bait it was way too late and had to contend with stingrays ,cat fish , sharks and bream . I did have an unusual visitor though , a small wallaby out for a morning dip.
    South side Bream 290mm

    Hi legends!

Met the all mighty out at mud Monday morning. The cat was on fire in the morning bagging a big snap and grassy and after a quick repositioning I soon landed a nice 49er

41 cm flatty caught after way too long flicking plastics into the wind. There's a few around as I had several good runs, this is the only one that stuck. Its a skinny fish, but I'm hungry and the boys wanted to learn how to fillet a fish. So I'll be hungry still tonight 🤣

If you have Navionic mapping this might help.  As Brian said the coffee rock runs up the beach line.  My old man used to love this spot which was just off the outlet pipe from the marine centre at the northern end of Woorim.  Havent been there for 20 years but essentially its just in that coffee rock reef area.
Once you head over towards Moreton you can head through the inner Freeman channel and in @ 10m there is a vast expanse of coffee rock reef.  Never caught anything super large there but usually plenty of bait hanging around.
North of that @ 2km is the North Moreton artificial.   Last trip got donuts but good jew hanging over the structure.   Other times good sizes grassies and cleaned up by unstopables.  Also you can get some schools of yellow tail kings.  Just a matter of seeing if any bait is holding over the structure.  Haven’t tried Wild Banks artificial yet - its not a very old artificial but from what I have heard hold pelagics.
Then north off Cape Moreton is Hutchison Shoals and others structures to the south (Smiths Rocks etc which run down the outside of Moreton Island).  Quite easily reached in your Bayliner on a half decent day the only tricky part if through Freeman Channels although you can go the long way through the marked channel and then west. One section of green zone at southern end of Hutchies which is exposed and breaking and often you see dive boats anchored.  14-35m is the general depth….usual reef species.  Have gotten some nice pearl perch there and some good schools of Kingy’s at times.
Ultimately these days I just go to general areas and then sound around until I see something, otherwise you can just drift through and see what you can get.

I’ve been  wanting to make a custom spin  rod for  Tailor  fishing up at Fraser Island for a while now . About a week ago I got on Facebook and  purchased  an old  trashy looking 13 ft butterworth surf rod, (the number on the blank appears to be ss 51569 )for the princely sum of  $50 -hoping I  could do something with the blank.
First up , I stripped it all back and shorted the blank down  till it felt real good at 11 foot 8 inches. I wanted the rod to be powerful ,but as light as possible , so got on line and ordered a set of Alps  aluminium oxide High Rise  Guides , a Fuji reel seat , some shrink wrap grips,  and a butt cap from a local supplier . I had a bit of thread and epoxy in the garage which I used for the project . It took me two nights to bind it all up and epoxy it . My wife even made me up a little decal sticker  for it.
This morning the epoxy had all gone off rock solid  , so I put a Shimano  6000 Saragosa  with 20 lb braid on it and loaded it up to give it a test.Jezzz …  It feels like a weapon and cannt wait to fire out some 65 and 85 g Raiders later this year. I’ve used a lot of high modulus rods but I recon those old school surf rods are hard to beat when surf fishing , they cop a flogging out there on the beach and a lot still being used 20 to 30 years later . Super glad I gave this old girl of a rod a second lease of life.

Well we were in a co op and guy said grab the crayfish you want so I reached in with my bare hands and caught the feisty live cray before it could crawl to the other side of the tank.

I love a fish curry and mackerel are a great ingredient for curries. I had some school mackerel on the weekend that I made with my favourite fish curry recipe. Very simple but really tasty

Well done @Allnighter. Although……….. You’re a Southsider aren’t you? If so, I’d just like to point out that the required signal for this month’s comp is a Thumbs Up. Your thumb looks distinctly sideways, not up in the photo so I don’t think it qualifies. If, however,  you are actually a Northsider forget I said anything. Great fish! 🤪
