  1. But I’m not even sure if you can catch all those fish I listed around that area
  2. Yea ok I’m bringing all my gear regardless anyway . Cause that’s not my only stop . I’m was thinking to target fish like trout Redfin yellowbelly and carp but you guys really seem to be into the Murray cod
  3. Thanks what leader should I use for spinner baits i have 4 6 10 14 and 20lb fluorocarbon leader
  4. What gear should I been using spinner baits for . My lightest setup is a 1.5-3.5kg rod a 1000 size reel and 6lb braid my medium set up is a 2-4kg rod 2500 reel and 10lb braid and my heaviest setup is 2-5kg rod a 2500 sized reel and 10lb braid
  5. I’m going on a holiday in a few weeks to Dubbo and some of the surrounding areas and need advice on fish species and how to catch them and general fishing advice for freshwater fishing . I will be fishing mostly around Macquarie river and possibly a dam or 2 all land based . My experience with Fishing is almost 2 year’s I can catch bream and flathead on soft plastics relatively easily And sometimes I catch some other fish like tailor and small snapper as by catch and I have little experience with hardbodie lures but some .I’ve caught a few of tailor and flathead with them. I also have some experience with bait fishing using bread nippers and corn and dough . For fish like bream and whiting. And I have very good/decent gear rods reels line and tackle are perfect for a variety of light fishing so for gear I’m all set . Took a long time to save up for .I just need some advice for freshwater fishing cause I’m clueless when it comes to freshwater
  6. Thanks for all the different options and advice but I’m going to go and stick to the pain of reeling with my left hand
  7. Yea I found it lil bit tricky when I was done casting flipping the bail over once my lure hit the water but I suppose I’ll get used to that . And learn to do that quickly like I do with my right hand
  8. Yea still not sure but I’ll keep trying with the left till I get used to it and yea if I ever start using overhead or baitcast reels I’ll probably just buy right handed ones anyway like Ed said they is no point replacing reels just to fish left handed . But for my spinning gear I’m gonna try left for now on and see how it goes
  9. Yea I mainly do soft plastic fishing sometimes I use hardbodys and I also regularly do finesse bait fishing with 3-4lb leaders
  10. I’m right handed and been holding the rod in my left hand hand and been reeling with my right since I started fishing . I’ve heard for the past 6 months a lot people say if your right handed you should reel with your left hand . Well I tried it when I went fishing today and it felt like crap it felt like the rod couldn’t stay straight and I couldn’t feel the same smoothness and sensitivities in the reel .a lot people say they get used to it after a few fishing trips but man does it feel wrong using my left handed and bringing fish in don’t even get me started my hand kept slipping trying to reel in my fish today . But I’m gonna keep using my left hand to reel Because it’s considered a advantage in casting and reaction time. So I was wondering what other people’s opinion is on this as I’ve come across different options when it comes to which Hand you should reel with
  11. Yea looks like a amazing combo Hope you like it
  12. Yea I did mention the gearing thing is more in the spinning reel category . I know abu Garcia make good baitcaster reels but their spinning reels suck there gears don’t last long and break down fairly quickly compared to daiwa and shimano ask anyone who owns a abu Garcia reel who isn’t sponsored and 9/10 they will say it’s crap and has lost smoothness . Okuma is a little bit better and at least their gears are smooth for a decent amount of time but once again they aren’t as good as other reels around that price range but I serviced A okuma overhead reel can’t remember what model it was but it seemed really good so you might on to something there . But anyway as I was saying shimanos hagene gear and Daiwa’s digi gear are some of the best main gears on the market . I open and service reels often only cheaper reels under $150 due to its easy to get confused when you starting getting any higher quality reels I service my own and other peoples and the okumas and abu Garcia’s are always have the most wear on the gears I find shimanos Hagane gear is the best main gear overall also I don’t know why but shimano really like the to skimp on the ball bearings compared to other brands but I think the reason they do this is for better gearing and longevity . Also stay away from 13 fishing there reels are crap overhead or spinning . I will add this some of shimano reels and daiwa reels are crap but most are excellent . But yea do some research and see what you like don’t just take my word for it . Penn make some good reels to and also van stalls there’s also some other brands that make decent reels to but I really like penn overhead reels but like Ed said you might what to check out those okuma overheads they seem really good
  13. Also I will just put out . Shimano and daiwa have the most durable and overall smoother gearing compared to any other spinning reel manufacturer then your catching big fish you need strong tough gearing . So i would stear away from abu Garcia okuma and those cheap eBay brand reels . But I do find overhead reels and bait casters it doesn’t matter as much with the gearing . But for spinning gear differently go for shimano or daiwa
  14. The best thing I would recommend is doing research and talk to people who sort of do this thing . But if I had to give advice on tackle I would get this gear simply because I know it’s quality gear and it’s very versatile . rod atomic arrows rods the offshore models particularly.there are many different models to suit your application and all models have awesome light responsive blanks and good quality guides and reel seats and are also fairly cheap most are under 200 I got a lighter bream series one for $112 Reels shimano saragosa simply because there heavy sealed and have a great reputation . Shimano stradic fl I don’t have experience with the bigger models but I have a little experience with the smallest model and it’s extremely smooth when using and has good drag and feels very Rigid has pretty much zero play in the reel also for some reason it feels smoother retrieving line with a lure on the end of it then just spinning it by it self with nothing on it . But I know it’s fairly water resistant and can differentially handle the pressure of big fish . Just don’t go dunking it yes it’s sealed but not water proof it can handle salt spray from waves that’s about it then comes to the water resistance level Main line . Daiwa j braid its easy to tie knots with .you don’t get wind knots it’s cheap and it’s strength has been proven to be extremely strong . This is the only braid I use leader line . FC rock it’s fairly cheap for fluorocarbon and it’s very abrasion resistance and ties most knots well with a bit of lubrication . For mono leaders you might want to check out shimano Exage personally I haven’t used it but a lot of my friends use it and swear by it lures personally I haven’t used jigs before but I have heard good things about the savage gear jigs and The hooks on those things are super strong overall just do some research and see what you can find out these are just some of my suggestions in a pool of many other suggestions but in terms of rods reels and line I think that’s were you want to be headed . Hope that helps
  15. This makes my Stradic fl 1000 and atomic arrows bream surface rod look like child’s play but to be honest I don’t think for small fish up to 7kg you Don’t need a $1000 + combo my new combo is the bees knees so smooth and extremely light and feels amazing
  16. Just wanted you guys to know that my instagram is now public and I will be uploading mostly fishing related pictures and stories . My insta Breaming with bro
  17. Yea will probably add more backing after I use it once or twice to avoid this problem
  18. Yea it’s close but I usually would Fill it up a bit more
  19. I recently filled up my Stradic 1000 with 150m of 6lb braid and like 10-15 metres of light mono backing looked slightly under filled will probably take the braid off and put it on another reel and add some more backing and then put the braid back in to get it %100 full sorry for blurry photos best pictures I could get but I might just keep it how it is not sure as of yet
  20. Yea the Stradic will be my main reel and I will be using it for bread and butter species up to 5kg .the Stradic is extremely smooth smoother then I thought it be because of all the seals and all the bushings in the reel the reel has 6 ball bearings and also the roller bearing but I think it can be upgraded to 10 or 12 +1 ball bearings but I can’t be bothered to upgrade it because it’s all ready extremely smooth to begin with I never fought i would say this but it’s almost to smooth
  21. Also forgot to mention I got my Stradic fl 1000 today super smooth and rigid feels really nice can’t wait to use it
  22. Yea my local rivers filled with bull sharks but yea maybe one day I will try and learn to catch shark a lot of local bull shark fishermen use atleast 80lb 300 metres of it and a 10 metre fluorocarbon leader between 40-200lbs depending on how big your bait is And a wire trace .a lot of them say you can get spooled with lighter gear cause even if you trying to catch little ones it’s not uncommon at my local river to get a good size female
  23. Sorry for ripping off your title aus-bne-fisho lol anyway yesterday I rocked up to my local river which is about 2km from where I live at 3pm .I had 2 rods set up a bait rod and a lure rod bait rod daiwa aird x 2-4kg and shimano cazna 2500 with 10lb braid and 10lb leader lure rod atomic arrowz bream surface rod 2pc and daiwa aird lt 2000 with 6lb braid and 6lb leader Anyway i baited up my bait rod with some garfish I caught and froze not to long ago placed my rod on the wooden planks the tiny wharf was made out of with my bail arm open so my rod doesn’t go in the water Then set up my lure rod with some 2.5 slim swims no hits for around 40 minutes then all of the sudden I see line coming off my bait rod a fish is taking the bait I quickly but carefully place down my lure rod and walk over to my bait rod the fish is still running but slowly I set the hook keep in Mind most legal fish feel small on this rod anyway I set the hook and get a few really good headshakes and a little run which tells the fish is decent as I get the fish closer to the wharf all of the sudden the hook comes flying out of the water and the fish got away and the disappointment hits my like fraight train I then once again bait up the rod and throw a cast 40 metres off the wharf theres a drop off where sometimes flathead bass and school jew hang around I then pick up my lure rod and start flicking around my slim swim once again 15 minutes later no hits I see a few mullet jump out of the water and a bowel wave following them I quickly cast out and get right in front of the bowel wave perfect cast soon as the lure hit the water I see my line quickly shoot I set the hook and hook up to a decent size flathead which was 48cm I find that a bit strange because the water was fairly deep where the mullet were jumping out I fought a jewfish or a small bull shark was chasing them the flathead would have been right on top of the water because soon as the lure hit the water I got hits It didn’t even sink to the bottom or even close to the bottom anyway I brain spike it and bleed it out I get a few more hits on the bait rod as the sky darkens but only little fish they didn’t get hooked . Next time I do this I will bring my phone for photos also I wasn’t sure to put this in saltwater or freshwater as the river I was fishing is brackish mostly freshwater people catch freshwater fish like bass the odd carp and bull sharks but also saltwater fish like flathead bream and jewfish
  24. No unfortunately I didn’t have my phone with me at the time and I’ve already filleted it . I wish I got a photo though good idea I’ll get a photo next time
