Tuna are fish got a reaction from Doughnuts in fished the fads
    Hi all,
went out the fad 6 today, weather was not playing in our favor with big rolling swell, a lot of chop and 17 knot winds.  left at 3am and got on the water but 3:45, and powered straight out to some bombies with no luck there, so at about 5:30 arrived at the fad. hooked up of some dollies straight away and ended up taking 4 school sized ones.  after we had caught our feed i went for a dip with my speargun.  first time blue water spearfishing and with the swell it was not easy, on my first drift i shot a decent one but the shot was rushed and poor which lead to it getting away.  on the rest of the dives i either couldnt get close enough for a shot or just missed.  didnt see any big bulls, the biggest one that i saw was about a metre long cow.  with the weather conditions i only did about 6 or 7 drifts because i started to feel sick.  no other fish were caught and did not see any tuna in the bay on the way back in.
    cheers dan

I went to the Anaconda sale. Bought a Penn Conflict 6000 reel.  $99.00 plus a free shirt.
I have a Conflict 4000, which I bought years a go. Great reel never had a problem with it. The new one is the latest version.
Also noticed Mono & Braid line was a lot cheaper than other stores.
    Cheers.

Tuna are fish reacted to therealchuckchuckles in doug larsen park carp
not sure if this is even worth posting due to the nature of the pond being illegal to fish, however the lake at doug larsen park near the beenleigh bmx park is full of carp, especially near the duck feeding jetty/platform near the playground where there is about half a dozen 60cm-80cm and maybe even up to 90cm carp that just hang around picking bread off the surface that the ducks have missed. i'll upload some pictures i have got of the carp there to this thread at a later date, i honestly think it is the only place in queensland with carp that size with some of them making the ducks look small.

Tuna are fish reacted to Huxstang in north moreton artificial
Finally got back on the water in my boat after waiting a month for a service - didnt want to run too far over the first service interval.
With weather reports looking reasonable we decided to launch at Spinnaker and head out into the northern bay.  A bit of a later start as I had a golf function on and was pushed for time to prep boat….damn retirement is too busy at times.
Any on the water at 6.15am and the usual bit of bay chop but winds were relatively light.  Decided to pop into North Moreton Artificial to have a look as it didnt exist when Dad and I used to fish up this end of the bay.
I just love modern electronics….the combo of decent maps which mark the clumps of the artifical and the sounder being able to clearly pick up everything meant little wasted time.  Went over the south eastern clump and it was holding lots of bait with some nice bigger arches around schooling.  So assumed mackies or kingies.
Went to the north eastern section and it was similar so decided we would see what was around.  I already had a paddle tail plastic rigged up so when I saw fish flicking under the boat I quickly dropped it in and got my first hit, second cast converted to a nice rat yellow tail king fish.
Decided to floatline a pilly down and go back to casting plastics, and the pilly got belted and second king in the kill bag.
The plastic was then torn by another kingy so I rerigged a pilly.  Every drift was converting to fish as we drifted over the structure.
Bit started to drop as we headed into @ 9.30am so got a bit more weight on and converted to a nice grassie close to the structure.   Then another nice kingy.  There was definitely fish holding lower but too hard to get past the kings one the drift.
All up we brought home 5 and released the rest.
So last night was beautiful fresh king fish sashimi followed by King Island Rib Eye grilled on coals over at a mates place…washed down with Revel Brewing beers and west aussie reds…..what a glorious day.

    Hi All,
Never been here before. I usually fish further down the chanel for blackfish. I was told it was Bream country.
Arrived around sunrise. Overcast. I had the place to myself.
    Running two rods as usual.
First up a nice Whiting 32cm. That wasn't the plan.
Ended up with five nice beam all around 30cm, one was 34cm.
My puppy will be happy, just loves bream.
Bait was Aussie cooked prawns. I didn't get a bite on my zman soft plastics. Not complaining.
    Cheers.

Tuna are fish reacted to Junky in pittwater rat king spinning set-up
If you're chasing kings etc (not sure what Pittwaters are) then spend the coin on the reel and get a second hand rod or look for a 7ft spin, 5 to 8kg ish, in the cheaper rods, untill you can afford a better one.
Abu used to have a fantastic 7ft spin rod that was super cheap, could even roll it around for a small overhead if required.

Cheap rod will work, cheap reel will go bang.

Daiwa and shimano offer up some good reels for around $300.
You'd be looking for a 4000 size reel.
They will last, and will give you confidence in fighting larger species.

I've got a solution in the works mate. Still a little bit to do, but will keep the info flowing.  No doubt the entire community feel the same about it.

    The age old question...
How to secure your catch and/or equipment from thieves..

I am building a prototype with off the shelf items.  I have a background in business and supply chains so am experienced with bringing costs under control for production runs, but my other question is - how much is the recreational fisherman willing to spend on a solution?

Sounds like a steal, if you are looking for a reel i would suggest calling up some anacondas and asking about the 2019 kix and Freams, they are on insane clearance deals, im just about to buy a 19 kix 2000 on clearance for $100.  they wont come up on the website but if you call the store they might have them

Yes they are a scam, had about 5 people come in today asking if they were.  don't open any links on Facebook, enter any details and most definitely do not try and buy from them.
The most suspicious sentence I've heard all day.

Take the exhaust cover off and check for hot spots in the top RH or LH corner of the powerhead....it will have a slightly different look.....this will indicate where the salt has blocked one of the ports. Hopefully there is not a hot spot showing and it could be something other than either of those two 3mm diameter water port holes in the powerhead. Worth investigating before firing the parts canon.
Either way with the thermostat removed and all other water ports blocked it should come out of the thermostat housing hole.
I use a 3 way bridle attachment on my engine, primary flush - the first 3 minutes feeding the port on the motor, then the secondary flush is from the muffs for 2 minutes. The second flush thru the muffs also feeds in the Salty Captain engine flush after I can feel the thermostat working in the tell take stream temperature. I do not flush the salty captain out completely...I shut it down before it is gone completely from the feed bottle and let the motor gravity drain.

Tuna are fish reacted to Bob9863 in all geared up, watch this space.
My bags are packed, and funny enough 80% of it is fishing gear.
Half my clothes are in my wife's bags.
I've got a big box of suitable lures all with single circle hooks fitted, I've got a pair of Nitro Bonecrusher 7ft travel rods rods, PE2-4 and PE 2-6 with a Stella 5000 and a Baitrunner LC med for the heavy bait rod and a couple of spare reels for rods over there too.
Hooks, burley feeders, multiple spare 65lb and 20lb shimano grapler braid spools, 20lb, 30lb, 60lb and 100lb fluorocarbon and all the bits and bobs to keep things running.
Why, for a month over in Thailand with around 8-10 days fishing in parks around Bangkok and two weeks in the mountains helping with the harvest and fishing in my very own heavily stocked fishing pond. It's probably got close to 1000 fish in it now so it's going to be called catching, not fishing.
But you can expect even demand some decent Arapima, my main goal this trip is to land a 200lb one, some big Amazon red tail of course, heaps of Mekong catfish and Siamese giant carp and some nuisance alligator gar.
But what I'd really like this trip is a great Tapah or failing that a Piraiba and a Tarpon if possible. But I do plan on exploring more small parks in Bangkok for smaller species that I haven't caught before and hopefully a really big Giant snakehead. Maybe with some street fishing around town thrown in.
So as I finish a days fishing I'm going to put a bit of a report up here in this post about where I went and what got caught.
With the obligatory photos of course.
So finger's crossed its a good one, it's been 3 whole years in the making so the wife is being very generous with my fishing time.
