  1. Not to sure on the length but i find the halco twisty in the 30g with a snap swivel on the split ring to work great for macs, the snap swivel just adds an extra bit of protection from the teeth. As for tuna assuming your fishing for longtails you might need a broad range of metals and stick baits, sometimes they are just not eating what you throw at them.
  2. Cant find any photo sharing sites that dont charge you and are trust worthy, so if you want to see the photos of the fish i have caught (mahi, cobia, tuna, snapper) just have a look at my insta @dan_beams
  3. The first run on them is amazing, it goes from 0 - 100 very quick and you have to be thinking. shame about not knowing the size of the kingfish, i have caught a size one since i lived in new zealand but they taste great when you do get one. sounds like a lot of fun
  4. Not to bad but I’ve still got the same problem out my left hand cramping when I wind with the right so I might switch everything to left handed reels Is there anyway to get around it, any external sites?
  5. Also if anyone knows how to add photos please let me know
  6. Hello again, second post in a about a week, and its a good one. went out fishing on friday, the plan was to hit the fads again, and shoot some mahi mahi, troll some skirts and bag out. but it did not go to plan, woke up at 2:30 and was on the water at 4. weather was looking good coming out of the passage able to cruise at 50km/h, got around the corner and it changed. was probably only 1-1.5m swell but it was all chop and in a 4.8 tinny it was rough. managed to push to moreton and get some cover and tried to jig up some livies at the beacon. wasnt able to get anything except a large baitfish about 30cm. started puching it out to the fad but before we got around the point of moreton, saw large schools of the biggest longtail tuna i have ever seen. cast stickbaits at them for about 30min with no luck, so just started drifting in about 30m of water. pulled up 3 nice snapper on pillies and the fish bin was looking good. after the 3rd drift the reel with the live on took off. had to pull in 4 lines and by the time i was on the rod i was nearly on backing, and had to gain back about 300m of line. after a long 15-20min fight i got colour. it was a large longtail. we gutted and bled it on the boat and towed it backwards for about 15mins after gutting and bleeding it get all of the blood out. started to leave and head home at about 6:30. i packed the gut cavity with ice and lay wet towels over it. on the way home got more ice and a large fish cooler bag to put it in. weighed and meaured it when i got home, the final length was 128.5cm and over 18kg. ended up getting more than 12kg of meat off it, probably could have got more out of it but dad and i have never filleted a fish like that, it wont go to waste tho as we will use it for crab bait. cheers dan
  7. Hi all, went out the fad 6 today, weather was not playing in our favor with big rolling swell, a lot of chop and 17 knot winds. left at 3am and got on the water but 3:45, and powered straight out to some bombies with no luck there, so at about 5:30 arrived at the fad. hooked up of some dollies straight away and ended up taking 4 school sized ones. after we had caught our feed i went for a dip with my speargun. first time blue water spearfishing and with the swell it was not easy, on my first drift i shot a decent one but the shot was rushed and poor which lead to it getting away. on the rest of the dives i either couldnt get close enough for a shot or just missed. didnt see any big bulls, the biggest one that i saw was about a metre long cow. with the weather conditions i only did about 6 or 7 drifts because i started to feel sick. no other fish were caught and did not see any tuna in the bay on the way back in. cheers dan
  8. Sounds like a steal, if you are looking for a reel i would suggest calling up some anacondas and asking about the 2019 kix and Freams, they are on insane clearance deals, im just about to buy a 19 kix 2000 on clearance for $100. they wont come up on the website but if you call the store they might have them

Yes they are a scam, had about 5 people come in today asking if they were. don't open any links on Facebook, enter any details and most definitely do not try and buy from them. The most suspicious sentence I've heard all day.
  10. My mate and i have caught some ok mac tuna off there, the easiest thing to do is to walk around to the end of the pier and on the left is a platform with stairs that goes to the water, but i know thats not always possible with how people fish there so if your planning on eating the fish i would suggest buying something like this https://www.anacondastores.com/fishing/fishing-tools/misc-tools-accessories/wilson-telescopic-12-foot-lure-retriever/BP90091432-black and putting a gaff head on it.
  11. Nah, none of the livebaits got touched, had to do long drifts while feeding back cut pillies. I got the cobia on a Saltiga 10HL and a Shimano Grappler 6’3” pe2 max 160 jig and was a great fight
  12. it was a brown sparkle squidtrex in either a 110 or 130mm not to sure, but it was on a fast crank up retreive from off the bottom.
  13. Went out to the fads on friday, just took some time to write a report. Got to the ramp at about 5:40 and headed out to get some livies. picked up about 12 in about 30 minutes so headed out, on the way out we ran over a huge bomby and put a mark on it (Foreshadowing) and continuted out to the Fad 6. after bludging out way through the swell we finally had it in sight, and what do you know there is a massive school of mahi mahi. The rush to put out a live bait resulted in a circle hook through my thumb that was not fun to pull out as it went well past the barb in but we carried on. after about 1 hour of not catching we hooked one on a subiki on a 2-4kg bream raider. then it was just fish after fish. we boated about 9 or 10 and kept 5 for a good feed. on the way back in we stopped back the the big bomby we ran over, dropped a squidtrex down on it (about 50 or so metres) and after a few drifts and a couple coral trout (undersize), i hit a brick wall, about 25 metres down on a fast jig up, it took off, peeling line and heading to the bottom, i put the hurt on it with my saltiga and grappler combo and got it to the surface where it took off about 100-150 metres across the surface; after about 10-15 minutes dad gaffed the mighty cobia, it ended up going just over a metre and 8kg. we decided to take it but relised that we had taken a bit to much fish so off to my mates house to drop off 2 dollies, (gave them to this mate because he and his family really apreciates fish and respects it). got some really nice fillets of them, all of the dollies were 60-70cm cheers (I'll add photos when its working again)
  14. sounds like a good buy, for flooring i used marine ply 9mm and put some marine varnish on to top it off. depending on the builders plate you should go at least a 30hp up to a 50
  15. Yeah great reels, wanted to give the left hand crank a go because my left arm cramps hard when i jig for a long period of time so im hoping that this will stop it or it will just cramp my right, time will tell
