  1. Not sure of the name, there's 2 old boat ramps and pillons from the sand mining days. Nice deep ledge just metres from shore. South western side.
  2. Hi all Wanted to share a bit about my first solo overnight fraser trip. Decided against the kayak, as was sure I'd make it over but unsure about getting back on Saturday if forecasted winds picked up. Not wanting to waste my opportunity, day booked off work and site booked, I walked on the barge and jumped off at hook point. What a slog, carting my 50ish kg of gear about 3km up the beach to coolooloi creek through the sand. Was worth it once I was there though. Set up camp, cast net some live bait and the fun began. Mackerel came through periodically, caught a few schoolies touch under size, then could see the tuna jumping after them. After a thousand casts with slugs and poppers could not tempt them though. Numerous big runs and bust ups, all from shore, had me thinking the remnants from the old jetty were causing me grief. Was hoping for squid for dinner, settled on crumbed bream. After a quiet beer and a good night's sleep had a quiet few hours early morning soaking bait then packed up camp to head home. Whilst walking back to barge realised I couldve comfortably kayaked it. All in all, an awesome day and a bit, and I'm already planning the next 1! Definatley taking the kayak!
  3. Checked it out. Really impressed with windy. Thanks for the tip.
  4. I've been stalking willys weather and bom sites about every 6 hours watching to see what next weekends weather will do and was wondering if anyone has a more reliable or not so well known weather guesser?
  5. It's a shame your not supposed eat them. I had a south African bloke at npd telling me they were farmed over there and a sought after catch. Good fun on my light bass gear.
  6. Never let my missus see these pages about guys towing they're girls around, give her ideas.
  7. Hi benno, do you find any difference on anchoring to the back of the yak, or on a harness/life jacket?
  8. 82 thats awesome. I go home happy if I get a couple. Npd levels looking low, was up there yesterday and saw new islands ive never seen befor. Guessing your a member of prfma boaty club?
  9. Yeah I've got an old 7fter I've thought bout loading up. Also have read tying it to yourself rather than kayak helps with drag. Time to experiment i guess!
  10. Thanks dostyle il have a look. Sounds near where the powerlines cross the main lake channel? I occasionally do find em. Holding that spot n catching them another thing altogether for me.
  11. Thanks ellicat, I look forward to making a contribution.
  12. Was thinking in this modern world, surely there's a device for towing extra cargo behind a kayak, anyone know of 1? My yaks rated for 180kg and have a few overnight trips in mind. Im confident i can cut my gear back to make the weight (im a trim 110kg) but was curious as to other options. Have a few ideas to make 1 up myself. Googleing kayak trailer is obviously showing the land based wheeled transporter.
  13. Hi all 1st post on this site, most of my fishing chasing bass at npd, hoping to get some tips locating schools with sounder. Also started doing trips from inskip to fraser on kayak and keen to do some overnighters. Anyone done similar trips or offer any pointers for multiday kayak trips?
