  6. Hi poorpigi I hear ya, life keeps getting in the way of me fishing as well ( the brown ocean not helping either ). Good luck with the boat and hoping all this fresh brings an abundance of crustaceans down the track!

    Just joined up the tipping comp. Usually follow strict rules in footy tipping, never to my benefit tho. 1. ALWAYS tip the Bulldogs. 2. NEVER EVER tip the Broncos. Haha GO NSW!

    Guess what

    That would be a satisfying feeling catching a nice fish on your own homemade lure. Good luck.
  10. Hi ubnt I catch my share of mullet for bait in castnet, sometimes targeting sometimes as bycatch. Though I'd say I've never noticed a pattern, caught them before and after sunrise, high and low tide. A few specific conditions do stand out though, I think they usually hold high in water column, spook easy with boat traffic and head to shore, and on runout tides hang around run-off, drop off points. When struggling for bait Il walk/ cast up stream maybe every few metres ahead of me shallow, then again out deeper to cover ground. If quiet and undisturbed you can find mullet in ankle deep water foraging. Keep throwing you'll catch something!
  11. Hi nuggs, welcome to forum, lots of fishing knowledge and plenty of North bris fisherman here. In fact we recently came 2nd in a month long fishing comp. I occasionally Google obscure fishing ideas and surprising how often it sends me back here! Good luck chasing your fishy dreams, put pics of catches up and feel free to ask questions. P.s. pine River was full of prawns couple weeks back, boats were smashing them, I caught enough castnetting from the bank to use for bait + kept big 1s for a lil feed. Love the cast net and not paying for bait!;
  12. Not only 1 legged but a kiwi as well, she liked them though!
  13. Nice snack to share with my boys
  14. P.s. starting to get a few, hopefully sign of good things to come!
  15. Thanks christophagus Congratulations southside Apologies Northside for my ZERO contribution we won silver!!!!
  16. Awesome. Love watching those big white bellied eagles.
  17. Couple of them could tow a kayak from Sandgate to Moreton I'd reckon.
  18. You'll be right mate give it a crack! Let me know if you make it back n il come with ya next time! JOKING! Dont attempt it. Whilst not impossible, you'd need a lot of things to go your way for a safe trip. Experience, weather, tides, swell, physical fitness and more need to be considered before attempting. I'd recommend getting your hours up near shoreline before getting too far out, understanding and expecting how unpredictable things can get, practice deep water capsize recovery, understanding weight limits, selecting minimising and packing essential gear etc. All help make adventures possible and not a trip to Davy Jones locker. Donnybrook to mission point camp spot on bribie is a great starting mission for someone looking to get into offshore kayaking. Let me know how you go!
  19. Hi Nick Sounds like your all over it with the impoundments and can't help ya with the bris river, but still sounds like a good day out to me! Maybe try the same strategy but a dusk or dawn though. Good luck next time!
  20. I'd join ya if I could but still got a 1 legged missus n 3 youngins can't leave at the moment. Afraid my kayak gonna dry out n shrivell up! Good luck!
  21. Not making excuses for my self, BUT my missus literally broke her leg 8 days before Xmas, I've been fishing once (unsuccessfully). I'm all for an extension but only if Southside agree. There smashing us.
