Was out setting some redclaw traps today, thought I'd throw out a line whilst mucking around with traps hoping a competition winning bass would swim by. Pretty happy with the by-catch. My 1st ever saratoga - 71 cm. Sat back afterwards thinking about all the times I drag around a ton of gear for little reward, how much I can overthink fishing and how you never really know your luck. ( Forgive the partial nudity, was in the water untangling a line when rod went off)

Is it wrong to say I'm looking forward to water level dropping a bit??? Me n my boys looking forward to throwing in redclaw pots n soaking some worms in between, bit of a buffer on the edge is always welcome.

I'm gutted. Was certain my barely legal whiting was Gona carry Northside to victory, wiped from the board, now we're going backwards! Come on Northside, the south side have had there time in the sun, we need some fish! -
Good work and thanks Ray and all prfma. Il make sure in years to come when my boys are reeling in big bass they know where they came from.

I was swimming down there few weeks back with my youngins, was an old fella there with shrimp /bait traps. He had 3 and was casting and checking them like lines, every few minutes or so. Still can't figure out what he was chasing.

Nice call on denying those illegally claimed southside competition fish, those southsiders will try anything to get on the board. I'm not saying they should be docked points, BUT it would set a standard for any future bogus claims

No idea were you are, or advice on the wild bass,( I catch mine in npd), but that misty morning out on the kayak looked mint. Moments just like that is why I say you don't go fishing just to catch fish.

I just had a quick Google and from what I could see that alvey looks like it's worth $150- $250. Hold onto them untill you know what there all worth.

I'm looking for a couple 12 ft beach combos for a Fraser trip next Sept. Get them valued before you give them away, anything alvey is worth a bit these days.

Yeah big thanks christophagus for putting your time into this, I'm looking forward to the challenge!! Can I also add to any AFOers reading about this, COME JOIN IN!! the more the merrier! You either live on 1 side of bris. River or the other. And God knows I'm not gonna catch/contribute anything. ( unless there's a toadfish or largest undersize bream categorie introduced )
