  1. I sent it on to Qld 2.0 ap fish I.d. response was 45% jack however I'm sceptical and the options are all high in ciguatera. If in doubt throw it back I spose!
  2. Can anyone i.d. the red fish? I've caught them there before and even asked on here, general consensus is either mangrove jack or red sea bass. Basically want to know if I can eat it.
  3. Listened in on the wireless (phone) for that 1. Up the Doggies!
  4. Id read reports of longtail tuna further north, think I may have been a few weeks early. Saw no activity/tuna bust ups like you normally do when there on in that area.
  5. Hi again all, With kids footy season and life in general about to disrupt my fishing ambitions, I threw my gear in the car, abandoned the family and work and arrived at Inskip to walk on to the 1st barge of the day for Friday. Arriving at the magical Fraser island to passing showers and bit of wind here and there I dragged my gear on foot a few clicks up the south western side to campgrounds, set up camp, then got into the fishing. Set out live herring and threw some halco slugs around I was soon onto the fish! Plenty of action over 2 days, numerous small pelagics and surprisingly a tally of 5 estuary cod near 50cm mark was amongst the highlights of the trip. Only really fishing the tide changes I had a few hours downtime so did some hikes inland in between for fun. Over 3 days my Garmin told me I clocked nearly 55km with only dingoes, dolphins and turtles to keep me company. No tuna (again) but gives me a reason to go back!

Link for registration worked straight away for me... Ta for invite ! As always UP THE BLUES! GO THE MIGHTY BULLDOGS! never EVER pick the boncos... And I'm not sure how I feel bout the dolphins. My boys, poor children, had no choice but to be raised as Qlders and Redcliffe is just down the road. Gonna try get behind dolphins but not sure bout their recruiting. Few wins and a rivalry against boncos should sort that out!
  11. That last 1 would feel like a big boy with the lipgrip !
  12. Currently throwing cast net from banks up from deep water bend, no prawns ..... Yet
  13. Will be trying my luck at Yabba creek with a platoon of youngins so fingers crossed.
  14. At least the bass will get a breather....
  15. For me with bream, nothing beats a quick gut and scale then over campfire coals whole. Good smokey flavour + less waste cos they arnt such a big fish. I also like them cleaned, salt and pepper touch of oil and wrapped in foil then in the oven. When cooked let them cool, even in fridge over night, superb the next day!
  16. Keen to see who won the comp. Think itl be a close one this year......
  17. I missed out last year for diff reasons myself, usually get a feed though from the banks up past deep water bend boat ramp. Il post here if I have any luck in coming weeks.
  18. I like this topic - land based long tail tuna from Fraser - land based golden or gt from Fraser - start fly fishing

  22. I also recall a young fella on this site who does alright on the bass once told me to restock the bass works out at $1 a fingerling but saratoga $100 each. I could be way off on those numbers though.
  23. He went straight back in after photos, was more than happy watching him swim off
