djpalmer88 got a reaction from Fisho Heino in Hobie Outback on a small car
Ha yep if it wasn’t for the child seat I’d be all good. But good to see your setup, that gives me confidence, thanks

Hey all, I've recently bought a Hobie outback, however in terms of transporting it we have a 2011 toyota corolla hatchback with roof racks. After lining them up I'm very skeptical that it'd be safe on such a small car. We also have a Forester without roof racks at the moment but the corolla would be the preference.
Does anyone have any experience transporting a kayak on a small car? Or does it just sound too sketchy?
Thanks

I've got the foamy strap portable roof racks. My pelican blackhawk is 3.6m and I strip it down as light as I can go. Permanent roof racks would be better suited, I can hear my roof panel flex goin over speed bumps. Still though where there's a will there's a way!

Ha thanks mate, some good fishing up the rivers these days, it's a shame.

Hey mate. Not 100% sure on all the areas you mentioned but ocean beaches should be fine to eat fish from. Probably best to check on the NSW DPI website for any current warnings - I know plenty of people who keep fish from the harbour without issue but I’m not sure on any current warnings post floods etc.

There has to be maps on their website somewhere. I didn't look too hard. Sorry you have that dilemma down there.

djpalmer88 reacted to Kat in Reel suggestions for Millerod Finesse Freak
I have a Vanford 5000 and mainly purchased it because of the light weight - being a weakling of a girl I figured it would be easier to hold for hours on end than similar priced reels. I have found it to be fantastic - although given I haven't been offshore much or targeting bigger fish wish I had bought a 3000 or smaller.

Yep sounds like a plan, thanks as usual.

That's great thanks for that, really useful. I have done some rock fishing lately (snapper, trev etc.) But my current setup is too light.
Cheers!

Thanks Ellicat, it's actually that very website that confused me. I thought Salmon was more of a winter thing around here? Well good to hear Tailor and salmon will still be around.

djpalmer88 reacted to Hweebe in shimano coltsniper bb rigging for bait?
I find that a luring specific rod and the taper can still be used for bait fishing (within the lure weight limits)
However a bait fishing specific rod doesn't have the right rod tip action taper to work a lure.
So to answer your question - Yes it can be used for bait fishing.

Thanks Ellicat and AUS-BNE-FISHO, figured that was the case.

It might also be a recommendation as the material of the rod is more suited to casting/working lures, i.e. a graphite fast taper rod would probably be better for working lures in the surf than a fibreglass slow taper rod. But obviously there is nothing stopping you from using it for bait.

You can use them for bait, but if you're using bait and sinkers be mindful of the cast weight recommendations.
It should cast well with bait or lures provided you are within those limits.

Agree with @Hweebe. Peak bite time = dusk and dawn.

All the fish I've caught in the surf have been in gutters relatively close in.
