  1. 90% of the folk here just tie as required. 3 main types used here are paternoster, a running lead with leader or running lead straight to the hook. We generally do not complicate the job being fancy. Buy some leader material, circle hooks and swivels and you will be set for most of out bait fishing. If you want to pre-make something, snood 2 hooks 60mm apart on about 3 feet of leader material.....it is that easy.
  2. Just go fishing....I don't care what I catch....have PB's I will never get close to matching again so put no weight on that anymore. I am probably the only guy in Brisbane that doesn't care if he loses a trophy fish boatside. Does not make me sad or angry or anything anymore. I do feel guilty when I get sharked though.....that fish was not on the shark's menu before I hooked it. To be able to post a photo in the comp I guess.....today I didn't get a bite, my deckie caught a legal bream and a undersized moses perch....no crabs, no prawns.....really fabulous weather today, NOT. 6 hours on the Pine.
  3. Interesting that Flagship will not state who builds the boats.....so many similarities to so many other boats. Being only sold by one boat yard is also of concern.... They could be a good boat is the design and build are good....or you could be buying someones get rich quick retirement scheme... be fully satisfied before parting with your coin.
  4. Welcome aboard fatboy. I fish northside of Brisbane as well....Bris river to Coochin. Where are you based at? I am at Petrie.
  5. The issue is leaving your motor long enough for the salt to dry off inside the powerhead....that takes about a week with no water going over it....Run your motor each day and you will not have an issue. When shutting down let it idle to drop the temps down, do not shut down immediately from higher revs.
  6. I didn't see the value in it. Gone back to using the BOM marine wind forecast.
  7. I spent about $200 this year.....at full price because what I wanted was not on special.
  8. PE ratings are bloody lousy. Compare the breaking strain difference between Fins and Tasline.....it is no wonder rods are regularly broken these days. The braids I prefer are super thin and high breaking strain to fish deeper waters with some sort of finesse.
  9. Is this a private boat or one of the courier boats in the area? Not good news but at least it is closure for the families involved.
  10. Winner winner Chicken dinner! Rainbow Bee-eater - BirdLife Australia Over to you.
