Normally I would love anything DIY and don't get me wrong these do look pretty good but can't you get the standard collapsible traps for like $5? Only $2-3 off ebay if I remember right. Have you had issues these types of traps to warrant making your own?

I've just bought a few of the eBay cheapies only for occasional use. I've used them in the past and they do not last long at all. redclaw destroy them very quickly! if I wanted them to last a good few years of heavy use, then id make my own like this

  2. Product: Shimano Sienna 1000fd

    Type: Spinning reel

    Colour Range: depends on ago

    Preferred Colour Thus Far:

    Price: $49.95

Quality: Great with maintenance like all reels

    Action:

Experience: for a cheap entry level reel, it is awesome. I've caught multiple sharks (some at the 1m mark), Jew, rays, bream, bass, flathead, snapper, the list goes on. All caught on a 1000 sized reel. Cannot beat bang for buck, great reel to start off on for a variety of species. Used it with bait, hard bodies, soft plastics.

  3. Chris, what's your tank setup like?

I carry two 25L tanks and will bring a 10L/20L jerry can depending. I'll go until the first 25L is gone then I know I'm at my half way point in terms of range (point of return). Switch over to the second tank and start making my way home. This is a simple way of monitoring usage without using a fuel gauge or guessing how much you have left in the tank

I've got a 25L tank and a 20l Jerry can. I will be taking a 10l Jerry can as well tho, just to be sure.

  4. Hey all,

I'm wanting to go fish out at the measured mile mark for some mackeral and sharks. My only concern is if my boat will make it there and back. It's a 4.1m ally craft rhino with a 40hp 2 stroke on the back. Currently I have a fuel capacity of 45L. My main concern at this stage is fuel. Having never been out that far before in my boat, I don't want to run out of fuel...I'm thinking I will get another Jerry can and fill it up. Never have to much peterol I figure.

So I was just wondering about people's exp with going that far in a tinny, how much juice did u go through etc. how the boat handled it

    Cheers

    Chris

  5. hey all!!

im heading up to Hervey Bay soon and was really wanting to go out on a fishing charter up there. Im not really after the really big stuff, just the reef fish, small tuna etc.

could anybody throw me the name of some charters they have been on and would reccomend, how much they cost, what you caught etc.

    cheers,

    Chris
