Could u explain this Como for the new members??
nah stuff the new members...haha ofcourse mate! Last comp link is below. But basically, its a free online fishing competition open to everyone that originally started to mimic the state of origin. Two teams (North and South) with the Brisbane river being the dividing border. Multiple species allowing anglers of all abilites (land, kayak or boat) to fish in the comp. The team with the majority winning categories wins the comp. No prizes, just bragging rights.

Well everyone....its back
SUBURBS OF ORIGIN is back in 2020!
Firstly id like to apologise for not running it last year, was a busy one for me!
Ive got a few new ideas for this year, but firstly, id like input from the members. Should Suburbs of Origin have 3 rounds like previous years, or have it as one round running over a few weeks. Personally id rather have it as one longer round. The comp will be mostly the same as years gone by for species, just thinking a change of comp length. Let me know what you think! ill let this poll run for about a week before releasing the comp in further detail.

all about picking your days and watching the weather while out and about. being safe is as much about the skipper as it is the boat.

yeah id be super cautious with a small motor. youd probably find that they will only let you go to certain spots with the boat anyway. still lots of fun to be had with flathead, bream etc close in. Even floating out a live bait close to the shore could land you a tuna, mackerel or cobia just on the sand flats. ive seen blokes catch cobia when shark fishing form the beach!
having said that, if you want to chase some good game style fish...i know its winter but there are still sharks around which put up a great fight!

i pump mine here at low tide only. there is alot of area covered in yabby holes. doesnt mean you get them with every pump though!
sometimes is hard work. but give it 20mins or so and you will get enough for a session!

hey mate, welcome to the forum. ive got a little one too, so fishing time is few and far between for me these days as well.
soft plastics are a bugger of a thing, they can be so frustraiting then so rewarding. Persstance pays off though! it took me about 10 years to catch a bream on a soft plastic, then the next session (a few days ago) i did really well and caught 5 solid bream.
are you landbased?

Yep, OK. If anyone else wants to take them off your hands, I'm fine with that also. Dad might not be able to drive over, seeing as though it's a pretty long drive to get there.
Cheers Hamish
No worries Hamish
let me know if he is happy to drive out this way
might be a good excuse to fish the mighty north side!

Nice one @benno573 - some good fish caught and some top family time had. Squeezing in trips around bubs sleeping time is always fun - I remember those days ..... Congrats on the new arrival by the way - @ellicat told me recently, great news!! Oh and he also told me your other news ......... I've sent a PM to @christophagus to request a loophole in the eligibility rules for State of Origin so you can still represent (ie. score crucial points ...) when we resurrect State of Origin ........
i will get around to ressurecting it...got a few new ideas floating around my head for this year!

Thanks for the report @christophagus. I think you are right about Moreton Bay tuna. I have caught longies in Hervey Bay and up around Cape York and they were really aggressive compared to the skittish models we have here. What size is your boat?
I went out with a charter in Hervey Bay who did not believe on sneaking up on the schools. He literally drove right up to them every time and it did not scare them at all! Cant do that here
ive got a Quintrex 5m coast runner

never kept one to be honest, only ever caught a handful of them. Ive used them fresh before and whole. Unsure about the best way to keep them

Hi christophagus
While you didn't manage to hook to many of the tuna (or they didn't take your lures), that still seems like a great session. Was the mac tuna bait or just released? Good job on it too!
It's good you could mange solo launching, but I think it would be easier with a fishing buddy too.
Cheers Hamish
let him go mate. would hae been a great small shark bait but i wanted to let him go as the tuna at the time were till all around my boat and i wanted a bigger one haha
