  1. Some of the best bait for just about everything Hamish
  2. We will show them when we take the bonito up north Lance
  3. I love what bunnies can be turned into
  4. Stagger your baits as well have 1 close to the Boat 5m from the back and then another 10m then 15m and 20m. A lot of the time it will be the close couple of baits will be hit as the fish will come in for the burley. Use the floats to get the furtherest ones out and the close ones without floats. If the baits are being picked off on the deep rigs by rubbish fish go all floats.
  5. Yes find where they are feeding in the water column.
  6. I had wire rig on 1 rod but got just as many fish on the gangs at the gangs are quicker to rig and get back out. We floated the pillies out and used a small sinker when the tide was the strongest. Take floats with you but mix it up and see what works best have some without float or sinkers. A old mate told me many years ago keep trying different rigs, depths and baits till you find what works. I cut the tail off the pillies at 1 stage and that worked good luck and remember burley up.
  7. We used 4/0 gangs and had 2 kg of good pillies and 2 kg of old pillies we burleyed up.
  8. Thanks Hamish the bonito are great bait I will be taking them up north to 1770 next time I get a chance.
  9. Yeah you weren't even out of site Steve before a few more mackerel hit the deck thanks for the extra bait worked a treat.
  10. Thanks for the tips Robbie haven't had a mackerel fix for a while it was plenty of fun they must get thicker on the bigger tides.
  11. Went out fishing in the bay yesterday after the Mackie reports got me itching to nail a few. Robbie said he was heading out to but I got out there early and did my own sounding around. I found some fish and anchored up setting the baits it wasn't long before the school mackerel come on the chew. It was mad fishing at times we had trouble keeping baits in the water. We lost more fish than we landed with the fish snipping us off. We saw the other 2 boats roll up and we chatted amongst ourselves. I found when we burleyed hard we got more fish and the fun followed. The weather couldn't be better but the fishing slowed as the tide slowed. Once the tide started running again the fish come back on. We caught a couple of Bonito and all up 10 schoolies.
  12. Well done again Hamish tick off another good threadfin you will become our forum guru on these fish
  13. Nice box of Mackies Steve and Robbie I love it when plan b comes together
  14. Yes that's where we stayed you will love it

    Roof Topper Boat

Had to do some work on the trailer for this little boat as the bearings were shot i made the decision to change the wheels over from these little 9 inch rims to 13 inch rims. Bought some new hubs, bearings, wheels and tyres then packed the bearings with grease and fitted the new hubs. I under slung the axle on the springs to give the new tyres and wheels enough room in the guards this has also raised the whole trailer to match the car i tow with. The axle and springs were fairly new so the new running gear should last many years to come apart from regular bearing changes. The new cushions have arrived thanks Lance 'reeltackle' and i will fit them tomorrow and give it all a run later in the day to see how the boat launches off the higher trailer. I will try for a few fish while i am down my local creek tomorrow and give the boat another good run.
  16. Good news Kelvin trouble free for many years to come

I've seen that 1 there are a few 2nd hand fold away trailers for sale at the moment i am guessing a few more might come up for sale that are not being used.
  18. Just did some research for you and it looks like Suzuki are the heaviest in the 115hp range then Yamaha are 10kg lighter then mercury are lighter again. Do your research around town for prices I got my yamaha at north side marine.
  19. 7 years ago it is a top motor I paid $13000 fitted to boat. The mercury 4 strokes are good motors as well now..
  20. Those custom fishing trolly's are worth their weight in gold for carting all your gear land based you see some good set ups at hervey bay where the urangan wharf is nearly 1km long.

Took the missus out and caught some whiting bream and even sand crabs all on live yabbies from our local creek. Still doing some testing with motor angles on the trim pins will have to drop the crab pots in next time there were that many crabs.
