AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to Brodie_S in Shimano Skimping On Reel Grease On Under $70 Reels?
I recently been learning about spinning reels and how they work so i open up a few cheap crappy ebay reels to look at them and how the basics of a fishing reel worked once i got good i started working out and how and were everything goes and works . I opened up my cazna not to do anything but to purely just look at the guts and gears without touching them . I just seen the gears with a little bit of grease without enough grease . And this is bad because metal grinding with metal under load with chip the drive gear so i will picking up some penn reel grease and oil to fix this problem. And also the ball bearings had grease on then for some reason . So i will add a bit of oil on them when i get the penn grease and oil . Has anyone heard of this . I’ve haven’t used the reel and the only thing i have to done is a put a drop of oil on the 2 ends of the ball bearings before opening. Just by unscrewing the handle and putting a drop of some on the ball bearings. I don’t think that would influence that though because it was only a drop or to not enough to wash away the grease on all the gears which i would never do . The sienna was also like this when i opened it up . But luckily its just a simple fix with a bit of grease and oil the reel will be running in order to prevent gears and metal grinding corroding and breaking. Just thought i mind tell you guys just in case your cheaper shimano reels are not running as smooth this could be the problem

Hi GregOug
Thanks for the report, it had some good tips in it. You certainly won't want to be rock fishing any time soon 🙂

Member of lots of different forums. Will be out your way in 10 days for a month chasing Barra and Goo Doo. Know quite a few of you Aussies who venture our way every year for some great trout fishing.

AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to buzzard in Stargazer.wacky Looking Fish
I thought I would put this up even though it was a number of years ago. I caught this Stargazer while fishing for Flathead where I lived for some 22 years at Jacobs Well. It used to be great fishing there years ago but things have to change. I never heard of anyone catching anything like this since. Cheers Ya'll..

I got one down the 'Well" a couple of years ago and @Old Scaley got one not too long ago as well.
Seems they are still about.
From what I hear they are top chewing.
That's a good sized one you caught. They hit hard and then the fight is like you've snagged up.

AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to ellicat in Got The Tube, Now I Just Need The Boat!
Tube looks good.
Maybe you could get a paddle and take it out while waiting for the boat 😛
Being an impatient person myself, I feel your frustration.

AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to GregOug in Got The Tube, Now I Just Need The Boat!
Thanks ellicat. Yes, very frustrated! But I just have to be patient. They are fitting the extras to the boat ordered directly before mine so hopefully it won’t be too long. Better hurry up. I can’t fit any more lures in the tackle box. I keep buying more while I’m waiting out of boredom. Lol

Cheers for all the help fellas,
Gonna go with the Greedy Guts 55F-SR in this black/gold colour i reckon, looks pretty similar and should have a similar action too by the looks of it.
We'll see how we go, fingers crossed

Bought a tube. Also bought a tow bobber which keeps the rope up out of the water on turns. Still waiting for the boat to tow them with though. Sigh.

Hi rayke1938
Good too see the redclaw thriving, will provide you with a feed for a while now 🙂 Nice bass there too, and good job on re-catching the tagged specimen. 🙂

AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to Junky in Looking For Something Similar
River2sea had similar lures with the shorter steep racked bibs.
Diawa had some as well....although they were longer from memory.
It is a shallow diver by the looks and with that steep racked bib giving it a wicked action. That's what is turning the fish on.
If you live in brisbane head over to charltons at redbank or tackle warehouse in cooporoo. Im sure theyll have something very similar on the shelf

AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to rayke1938 in NPD 19/2/20 Solo
My regular wednesday deckies are away feeding the mozzies in northern NSW so I did a quick solo trip this morning,Absolutely blown away with the numbers of small redclaw in the shrimp traps. The photo is the results of one shrimp trap. Luckily the bass were not adverse to partaking of a feed of redclaw. I found one school that yielded 15 bass in just over half an hour and then took another 3 hours to bring the tally up to 21.
Cheers Ray

AUS-BNE-FISHO reacted to DJDinnerroll in Looking For Something Similar
G'day
I used to have this ~50mm twitchbait that would absolutely slay the bass in my local creek. I've since misplaced it and the company that made it is no longer operating.
Looking for any suggestions of lures that would be similar, i cant find anything that the bass in my creek like near as much. Attached are photos of the lure.
Cheers
