  1. Yes Hamish it is definitely a juvenile Samson
  2. Hamish is doing the report (he is so good at them) but I only just sent him photos and I lost count of the amount of undersize Squires we caught.
  3. All the fish have gone to Mud waiting for @AUS-BNE-FISHO and @Kat to turn up tomorrow
  4. Hamish and I have both asked about last night. No reply. He either found a new spot that he doesn't want to share or... ?
  5. I am a definite for tomorrow - I have never been to the port of Brisbane boat ramp so was wondering if there is parking and if so how long and is it paid/metered parking? Also presume from message above I shouldn't go yabbie pumping this avo? Also I am very grateful for being taken out as deckie - and can pull up the anchor! And don't bring my tackle to save room - or do bring it? Cheers Katrina
  6. Oh how domesticated! Anyway you forgot to add scaling and filleting a huge number of really big fish
  7. I have been working out at the gym i should be strong enough
  8. Hiya @dropbear no problem, no let down hadn't got my hopes up yet! Anyway the FU cancer party sounds like a great thing for you. My husband/partner passed away from cancer early 2018 so I can imagine what you have been facing. Great news and very happy for you! Cheers Katrina
  9. Looks like a dead rotting Pelican to me
  10. Hiya I am keen for any deckie spots that may be available for Friday (absolutely no experience but keen to learn). Maybe I could be back up @Drop Bear if Hamish and @Cavvy can't make it? Cheers Katrina
  11. I have my box of plastics and hard lures in front of me. I have been lucky and have been given quite a few. I will check them against your recommendations. Thanks
  12. Wow. Definitely making sure I am free and will be keeping an eye on the weather all week Cheers Kat
  13. OMG I can't believe how far I can cast! I can't wait for decent weather and live bait. Landed three just under legal size Bream today. Can't wait to try for some Whiting. Next mission(s) is to get a cast net for live bait, learn how to catch beach worms and learn how to use lures and catch some flathead. Thanks for all the advice.
  14. I am so excited I feel like a kid again on Christmas morning!
  15. From Doug Burt's Tackle World - Doug gave me a great price! Didn't need to shop around at all. First and last stop.
  16. Hiya Everyone ....drumroll please....
  17. I have already jumped online to see which store I am visiting first in the morning so thanks. BTW coffee and cake is the last thing I would be eating after the gym - you would just have to go back to work it all off again
  18. To be honest I am a little too impatient to shop around much. I definitely am not waiting for online delivery! Fishing is my saviour/therapy at the moment and as I said the reel I am using is reely reely horrible. But will use your shopping tips for my better rod and reel in a few months.
  19. One more question - this is an Alvey Reel and has been passed on to my nephew by his grandad. My brother in law wants to know what the round metal loop is for? model 400/A1/7 Cheers Kat
  20. Thanks. Going to check out the reels at BCF in the morning and will post pic of the winner. And hopefully a pic of the first fish I catch with it. Cheers Kat
  21. I am almost too scared to ask - I may be up all night reading the answers but - what I want to know is how the heck does anybody know what they have hooked up until they have landed it (or almost landed it ). I mean sometimes you can have a good guess by where your fishing and what your targeting but I generally have no clue what I have got - except that I now think I know what a Bream bite and fight feels like. Soo how do you know when to "set the hook", when to let it run etc?
  22. Ooh that sounds handy - I am currently sort of trying to do that manually with the drag - adjusting it all the time. But that is also because the reel I am using temporarily is horrible.
  23. Thanks. BTW I am pretty sure it was your tips on catching Bream that increased my hook up rate and catch rate.
  24. OMG Hamish. I have been meaning to thank you!!... and say I will have to look more closely at the cleaning tips when I have finished with the reel decision. I plan on being at BCF first thing morning so I can get a reel and go fishing as it is my last chance until Monday or later. Thanks so much Hamish.
