It would help prevent it, however I found this - Dielectric grease, or tune-up grease, is a silicone-based grease that repels moisture and protects electrical connections against corrosion. ... The grease does not conduct electricity, so it shouldn't be applied directly to the mating surfaces (pins and sockets) of an electrical connection.
So you'd need to wipe it off before use probably, and still may cause issues if you can't remove it all from the socket. I used Inox spray which seemed to work well.

If not, buy the genuine USA made bearing buddies. I had the same drama with the rip off brands.

That is probably because you are spending all your time catching fish.
A pristine boat (like mine) just means I spend too much time cleaning and not enough time catching 🙂
