Went out fishing with Nathan from guided down under in Rockhampton. It was a suprise for my 30th birthday. All i wanted was a big thready and to be able to achieve it i was stoked. My wife got the first one coming in at 101cm and i followed soon after with a 122cm then backed up by a healthy salty barra at 77cm the first fish i got caught and got bricked by a 51cm jack. I also hooked the biggest barra i have ever seen in my life that bent the treble in its 2nd jump. I literally thought i hooked a turtle for most the fight until the jump. I said some crazy stuff when i saw the size of this thing.

Haven't had much experience using stick baits. If you don't mind me asking - were you casting the stick bait into surface activity or just casting over shallow reefs? And were you walking the dog or just retrieving back quickly?
I like the find the fish before the birds. See which way there are swimming then drive upwind current and have the sun in a way so it doesnt blind the fish. Then cut the outboard and wait for a bit then place a cast at the leading fish and retrieve as fast as you can aslong as the lure stays in the water. If you place a perfect cast you should get a eat as soon as it hits the water

Thanks guys was a very enjoyable day on the water and alot of fun. Good option if the charter boats are booked out. Favourite lure was the 5 gram twisty, samaki vibe blue mackeral colour and the nomad stickbait rainbow runner colour!

Went out with a boat company owned by Hervey bay Sportfishing. Easiest boat hire i have been own sounder full of spots and had a great day on the water.
Landed 3 mack tuna one spotty 1 longtail.
Had a big golden trevally eaten next to the boat by a big shark.
Same with a few mackeral.
Lost about $200 worth of lures
Alot of fun on the 3000 stradic nice to be back on the water after selling our renegade 490 6 months ago.
Highly recommend cost $380 that inlcuded a minn kota with spot lock and fuel. You literally just hop on and off boat gets washed launched and cleaned for you

Hey Everyone my name is Josh and currently in Hervey Bay heading further north To Port Douglas i have just found this site and hoping to meet as many fishos as i can along fhe way.
Got a camper and a small tinny for now and cant wait to explore this side of Australia.
Especially the GBR
I have done alot of WA and it has been fun speaking to people at jetties and boat ramps learning the locals fish names.
I hope i can contribute and learn from people along the way.
