Sorry all, I put this in the fresh not salt water section and I got no idea how to change it.

Decided to pop out for a quick flick chasing flatties on the rising tide on Wednesday night. The fishing was extremely slow with very minimal interest at the multiple different lures I was using. We were almost about to call it a night until we noticed a couple of squid that were giving me the side as they swam past. It probably wasn't the smartest thing for the squid to do, so after quickly changing to a couple of jigs, the madness started. In the space of no time we had boated 33 squid of various sizes. Here is a pick of the ones that I didn't eat and have decided to pack them up and hopefully turn them into something bigger and angrier.

I'm keen to follow your story Bob, I tried for arapaima over there a while back, and unfortunately caught everything except the target fish. A monster carp is also definitely on the bucket list. Good luck.!! -
If you decide to go the trawler net material, I've got bit laying about you can have. Happy to send it to you.

I've always just used gutter mesh. Most hardware shops sell it, comes in small rolls and you can just cut it to size to suit the amount of bait u want to use.

Great work Hamish, congrats.!! -
Some cracker snaps there, good job.!!

I try n stick with natural colours as I normally only target them when the water is clear. So if I'm running two rods, the first rod will have a lighter whitting style colour and the second rod will normally have a slightly darker pilchard style colour on it.

Good report Neil, Plenty of flathead north of the river at the moment. Eating every bit of plastic put in front of them.

Hi All, it's been a while since my last post so I thought I'd chuck one up. As others have mentioned, it wasn't a bad morning today, so I quickly decided to feel unwell and head out for a fish. With all the talk of squid lately i thought id have a crack at a couple myself. Although I didn't launch till 7.30 and was back at the ramp just after 10. I managed to pick up a dozen squid of various sizes.

I would turn up at the market wouldn't mind a couple sets myself. Reckon they would work a treat up on the reefs.

Nice work Ray, if you can't get your sounder working again. Just look for the "X" on the side of your boat... the bass or usually underneath it

Awesome report Hamish, bagging on snaps land based is top shelf.!!

It definitely works at BCF, a while ago they accidentally advertised under armour hoodies for $15. They weren't impressed when a bought 5 of them haha. I was going to do that with the jigs this morning, but after a bit of scrolling last night, it would only let me get the 2.5 green tiger colour for $5 all the rest were $22. With the little disclaimer on it, that the product was not available to order online. I may go to a few tackle shops this morning and try it for my own amusement. Don't anaconda have to beat it by 10%

It must be operator error at my end as I still can't get any at that price. Either that or I'm looking at the wrong end of the cattle dog because all I'm coming up with is.... Thanks Anyways.

I just tried getting some but they don't appear to be available anymore. Although they seem extremely cheap at the price, was it a sale or a glitch.? Either way, I hope someone managed to get some.!!

Nice work report Hamish

Twice the distance from one end to the centre

Nice work Ray, Did you stop fishing because you ran out of shrimp or did the shoulder give out.?
-
Nice work on the cricket score Ray. None of the birds have a mode to measure the length of the fish.
-
Nice work on the trout. How do you usually cook them.?
-
Nice work Ray, although it's only meant to be the bass putting the winter coat on.

Hi All, With a couple good weather windows this weekend I decided to go for a fish. Unfortunately I couldn't get out in the bay so I decided to go for a stroll down the local flicking plastics for flatties. At the beginning the fish were very timid, but after hitting every drain n ledge I could find, the fish started to play the game with a couple surprises chucked in. I started to get a couple of very small flatties which i like to call encouragement awards, but then I found a few slightly larger models. Ended up with 10 Flathead with six of them ranging between 47cm up to 62cm and this was all in about 3 hours. In between the commotion of the flatties I hooked something that hit harder and was fighting a bit different, to my surprise it ended up being a giant (little) herring which went 52cm. Pretty stoked with that as it was my first one. I was just about to leave and on my last cast I felt weight but it wasn't really fighting. When I got it to the surface, it turned out to be a rather large sandy which I dragged up the bank and popped straight into the esky. As I explained to my mate it takes someone with extreme skill to feel a hit on a plastic from a sandy and even greater skill to hook and land it. He promptly responded with it takes someone who is extremely full of... (u can fill in the blank) to jag a crab on a plastic. As this is my first report, I hope you all enjoy.!

Nice work on the snaps, a good feed there. I haven't fished down that way in a while. Is it mainly snaps down at Macleay or do you pick up the odd grassies as well.?
